I'm hunting for a bench and dumbbell to start workout at home. Been doing survey on the prices and types of bench and dumbbells.
Need your kind advice bcos I've never bought these things before. For bench: Saw one adjustable bench by Dynamex (Made in Malaysia) selling at RM250. Dynamex homepage doesn't have the picture but it looks like this one http://www.weidermalaysia.com/images/benches/f602.gif . I's quite sturdy and the total package weigh 16kg. Another 2 models I'm interested in I just see from the picture Weider 130 [March 2010 promotion price is RM299]: http://image.become.com/imageserver/s4/648...0/thumbnail.jpg Weider 230 pro [2009 Xmas promotion price is RM272]: http://www.weidermalaysia.com/images/bench...ider_pro230.gif Of these 3 models. I like Weider 230pro most because It has 4-roll leg lockdown and look sturdier than Weider 130. Dynamex one look 'cheap' and comes with only 2-roll leg lockdown Hoping Weider will have Father's day promotion in June. Any advice for a beginner? Which one has best bangs for the buck? Why not buy the ones with the removable plates? You can add plates to make it heavier, and unload plates to make it lighter. I'm using the one from Kettler.

Colyan, you can get it from most fitness shops. Kettler sells them, Fitness Concept too. Or you can make a DIY one, just go to the hardware shop.

QUOTE(JonYeap @ May 10 2010, 02:20 PM) I went to Sunway Pyramid Fitness Concept and saw the model you mentioned - One 0n One Trainer. I asked the branch manager (Ken Tan) what is the price during promotion. He said the price will the the same, only difference is the free gift given. Can I trust his word? |

QUOTE(John91 @ May 10 2010, 05:38 PM) I asked the manager also the maximum this bench can support. He said 100kg++. If you're > 60kg, + 20kgx2, + the force exerted while pressing the dumbbell. Can easily exceed 100kg.Planning to buy a bench from Weider (Weider 130, http://pocketchange.become.com/wp-content/...slant-board.jpg] but currently out of stock, even the display unit has been sold. So I can't visually compare how sturdy Weider 130 and One-on-One Trainer. The Manager said offer price is RM399. Is this a better bench than One-on-One trainer? I'll rather go to the gym and train. But yea, anything beats the one on one trainer, its got a weird design. I'm 86kg.
