Hi, need some help here. I just bought my wii. The sale gal told me that i should not use the wii to serve the net cause it is modified to open region, if it is set to use the internet, the wii will be lock out and not able to use again, is it true?

she probably meant that you should not update ur wii online.going online means that u need to update it at a point in time.

U'll also want to b careful when playing games with newer firmware.it may also update ur console.so, yeah, be wary.

Ifyou do not wish to go to this hassle, return back the wii n buy an original.

you still can, but if it updates on u then be quick on disconnecting the internet.what i actly fear is auto updates, but so far have not heard it yet.

Bros...got simple noobie questions...am trying to slowly read through this thread...but 90 over pages...takes time...got some urgent questions

1. from what i learned, buy original if want hassle free......looks like `jailbreak' (u guys call it modded..?) is not easy handle...i just want plug and play for my kids..

2. Original in Malaysia means US version right?

3. If i go US and buy, its the SAME thing right? meaning games buy in US and Malaysia can play ...(of course i need to settle the adapter and converter issue)

4. Price for new Wii here shouldnt be more than 1k...and it comes with a free Wii Sports 2 game right? i saw some pricing here...its about RM 940-950...

5. i read that comparatively with PS3 and Xbox...wii resolution not that powerful...so if play on a 60 inch flat panel....will the picture quality of Wii becomes `bad' as compared to a normal CRT 30 inch tv?

2. yeap correct malaysia WII = US region

5. you can't compare to CRT use composite cable, my wii is hooked up to my lcd monitor the picture is super sharp use a 3rd party composite cable that have vga port definitely way better picture than my crt tv

i got a Jap version wii.. bought it way back in 2007.. last night i play guitar heroes till half way then no electricity.

when i boot up my wii when the power is back.. it keep cant read cd anymore.. says cd not supported or sumthing.. like kena region lock..

The problem{Error 003} just came out when I put the WWE 2011 to my wii console. And it asked me to update....

And absolutely ERROR 003 came....
I think I will be taking my wii to the game shop see wheter can fix or not....

It'll look a bit more awkward with a large flat panel. But still usable either way.

electricity sometimes can do many crazy things...just that cd...or all of ur cd?

when i buy it, i din check all of this..just listen to wat the sales talk..
after I bought, i just check and found wii hav so many version..

My wii is Korean will...
And it already modified can play using ext. HDD and DVD..

so mean I cannot go for all internet work with my Korean modded??

honestly speaking...u can but with REAL EXTRA caution.

n oso u cannot easily update ur wii anymore n u can't give kids, relative or anybody else to try games without ur supervision unless u want them to mistakenly update ur wii. A modded wii is hardwork for noobs.

can get more understand about the Mii? is it it can play game with other through internet?

Mii it like a profiles of you self it keep track of your games progress (some of games) example wii sport use you Mii to keep score stats and etc
