I have been requested by my friend who is the coming bride next month to play a song for her wedding and it will be the entrance song. You know entrance when they introduce the newly wed into the ballroom. I will need to perform solo on my acoustic guitar and i cant think of a suitable song! Do you guys know or can recomend any to me? I need a song that i can play the vocal and music instrument with 1 guitar. I dont have a great voice so im thinking to play a song that i can get my guitar to produce the vocal and insturment sound together.

Just give me your suggestion and i will find the chords, tabs myself. If you have the tabs or chords that would be even better! Thanks....

If you want the predictable one, just play Canon in D....... tongue.gif

Even more sappy is Green Day's Time of your Life.

If you want to rock out abit, play Metallica's Nothing Else Matters.

Hehe... Time of Your Life will be fun... if the room isn't full of older folks. They won't appreciate it, trust me. Best for Christians, just do an instrumental worship song. But if you're not Christian then... hmm.gif

Added on May 11, 2009, 3:42 pmIt's the lyrics that counts wei:

Metallica, Nothing Else Matters:

So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
and nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us, something new
Open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

never cared for what they say
never cared for games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
and I know

So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No, nothing else matters

Hehe Time of Your Life is played damn fast. I have trouble keeping up with the video and when I play for friends they just stare.

Just had a listen to 'Canon D'. Very nice lah but maybe something lower? Sounded a bit high to me but it's a wedding. Weddings = happy.

But blacktrix, bro Barney doesn't want to sing. At least that's what I gathered from his post. sweat.gif

I would recommend Eric Claptop - Wonderful Tonight. Old classic song, and praises how the bride looks good that night. Hehe

Here's a suggestion. I've never heard it.

It also suggests When You Say Nothing At All. I think the finger-picking part is good for a wedding but it's pretty short unless you finger-pick the whole song.

I think the finger-picked intro and first verse sound amazing on a guitar that has lots of tone. Like mine tongue.gif. I play this song a lot.

ok first of all, you're on your own right?

which the option is only to do a solo accompaniment.

you have to play both melody and rhythm on your own.

get a nice transcription book.
(you can get those pop song arranged on single guitar accompaniment at guitar/music shop you know).
and make sure the notation is in tablature unless u can read music notation smile.gif

if it's me, i'll play 'reason'

pop song is the best for me.
my suggestion is find a transcription which was arranged for solo guitar.
of course u need to fingerpick for best result of that

Time of Your Life is very simple I agree. It's just fast.

Maybe a pop song can put some 'spice' into the wedding. I find weddings very boring.

fur elise on guitar(fingerpicked) is ok i think..
IMO,classical song suits more for wedding..
playing pop song in a wedding intro kinda weird and rude i think..

1) Canon in D
2) My Sassy Girl - I Believe (acoustic)
3) Eric Clapton - Wonderful Night

I personally like my sassy girl instrument...very relaxing i would say. Any more suggestions?

2 months back, I played Canon in D too (but I was the drummer) for a wedding at Putrajaya Marriot...it was for the couple's grand entrance.

It was pretty ok.. I mean the song and all.... Cuz, it's quite a number of ppl's favourite.. So it can't go wrong.. Just try to 'spice' it up a little in ur own way, or u'll be lulling the audience to slp with Canon's melody.... ^^

PS: Don't forget to shine ur guitar ..AND defreeze ur hands before playing! gud luck! wink.gif

OKie, i got another one in my list and it's 'My Sassy Girl(korean movie) - Canon' version. I find this is a bit more LIVELY than the original version of canon in D. What ya guitarist think?

here you go
http://www.imeem.com/z-ska9z/music/lIMXIxv...ssy-girl-canon/
this is the piano version but i can do it on the guitar.

well...the jamban ar....erm...i was told that recording in the jamban actually can produce better sound because its very humid and empty. there the sound will bounce back from the wall with an echo producing a much better sound. may be i am using a digi cam so the sound isn't as sharp as it should be ...hehe

Wah rclxms.gif It's relaxing to listen to alright. I like the bass parts. Can send me the tab once you're done? Haha nod.gif

If can, get a keyboard to back up. Will sound lagi cun around 2.15 mins in.

I find my guitar sounds brighter in a closed space. Open air seems like got more bass.

Cool remix...! thumbs up.. but got one weird part tho.. where the pianist does that jittery playing at 1:38..

But anyhows, I reckon that you'll succeed in causing either or both mother-in-laws to tear cry.gif brows.gif
lol..

You're transcribing that sassy girl piece from piano to guitar?
