what bout this? i got the idea from the following next pic. anyone can estimate the cost to construct the wooden frame? ceiling and wall.. if you notice, the ceiling panel is lower than the ceiling height. my room would b approximately just 120-150 sf? not really sure. queen size bed.

Not to continue hijacking this thread, but in responding Kalist0, we did something similar for a dear friend.
You may view it here: nuinfinity.com - Master Bedroom And here is something of a low Dry Kitchen island we're putting up for a client, it's not the usual island we do:- ![]() |

so far so good, with a minor hiccup, but quickly rectified by erny & team. also, found out that erny has a nasty temper! not towards clients, worry not, (he's really, really a nice & polite person), but towards his phone - he throws it around. anyways, hope all goes as well tmr!~ will post up pics once its completed to share w you guys! |

QUOTE(dopp @ Oct 15 2010, 07:53 PM) ID knows your suit u better than u know what suit yourself ? Is actually not really like what you think. What i said in the previos post mean, ID are more profession on space planing, and they are good in imagine about the space compare to normal ppl, just because they have lot of experiance compare to normal ppl. Just like why we want to create our own car since there is lot of car designer and factory are doing that for you with more professional way, what you need to do is just choose the right car you want. Similar to ID, u telling ID what you want, they propose to you, and you have a right to change base on what you want, which you only need to sit and choose, but not to thinking the (design) which you may not too sure the space is enough or not. Then can close down this forum, just write <all your interior design suggestion, pls talk to ID> |

we cannot underestimate DESIGNER contribution also, without them we cannot have many many awards winning housing project, unless u dunwan their service coz of low budget then it's another story but u cannot said DESIGNER is useless or not needed. You cannot speak on behalf of others consumers right? So i'm not DESIGNER by profession. i just wan to stand up and give a fair remarks. Try dun be too harsh in our remarks or else will hurt someone maybe we're not intentionally to hurt them, but just try to give our point of view. PEACE

Thanks in advance. you can ask your solid surface supplier to come over to do some polish on the surface, if the scratch is not so deep, there is no problem to remove by polishing. |

QUOTE(sphiroth @ Oct 16 2010, 08:23 PM) Anyone knows hoe to remove scratch from my solid surface kitchen tops? Brand is Acelite. Thanks in advance. if u prefer DIY can refer to the below procedure (not my formula, i copied) Removing scratches: Removing scratches is easy as you can use sandpaper to restore to its original condition; however different finishing requires different grit of sandpaper Matte finishing: A 180 grit sandpaper is required to sand until scratches disappear, then clean with soap and water Semi-gloss finishing: A 400 grit sandpaper is required to sand until scratches disappear, then clean with soap and water. Gloss finishing: Use a 400 grit sandpaper, followed by a 600 grit sandpaper to sand util scratches disappear, then buff with a car poslisher to polish to its original condition. remarks: i never try before but it does make sense. if u wanna try just try a small portion first, find an area which is not so visible and work on it. u never try never know. will save u few hundred bucks. |

Something odd or rather different way to build for your kitchen..
My current was they build 2 concrete kaki(not using brick) and 1 concrete top arrange it. Brick's kaki too thick.. kinda ugly and the method that they use to build your kitchen top is usually the one without kaki This method they put couple of metal rod on kitchen wall, make a mould, put a metal net then pour cement/concrete on it.. wait 2-3 days and u have a kitchen top like a floating shelves. |

If the table too big like limwk81, i dont think the "floating" way can be done. My friend had an experiance is, he using the mathod to do his TV table, even he use metal rod to connected with the existing concete wall, but the table still falling down. very dangerous.
In fact, using brick as leg, there is still another way to build it. brick had 3 dimention, 6"(L) x 4"(W) x 2"(H). what you can do is, just let 2" face up to build the leg, then your leg will be thin as finished by about 3" included tiles. is not really urgly. there is another way, u can ask ur contractors to make a mould for the legs as well. this way more durable, more nicer, but time consuming de..... my house is doing this way !!!!! the top same size with the legs. BEST !!
