Here in Malaysia, getting ppl including myself to change and accept KIA is very much difficult. A lot of ppl have lost confidence in KIA.

Due to :
1) No resale value due to NAZA heavy discount after from time to time.
2) Previous model rides on heavy FC.
3) Previous model built quality bad
4) Poor service center

Most ppl will be attracted to the new look of the Forte but Msian has to look beyond than this. That is why I am asking so much questions, no doubt we cant control the resale value but atleast if the Forte is really good and can last for a few good years, I would definetly buy the Forte.

How can we control the resale value if the dealer when NAZA is giving big discount from time to time.

For example, one may buy a car in 2008 at RM80K. Then in 2009, NAZA give discount for a same model new car selling at RM72K. Who wants to buy a 2nd car of year 2008 where ppl can buy a new car at the same price. Unless the year 2008 is selling way below, RM66K. This is a big lost to the owner, 1 year old car depreciate more than RM14K.

This has happen to Spectra, Spectra 5, Ria, Citra, Bestari and so on.

So, if NAZA still pratices such business ecthics then KIA has no hope of developing in Msia. Better KIA change the dealership to another company.

i think leongwk15 is right, this is what happened when i was looking for a second hand citra... i found that the new version citra is actually cheaper than 2nd hand old version ones.haha...but unexpectedly bought spectra5 coz i dont want 7 seats.

look at the good side, if NAZA doesn discount 17K on my spectra5 , I wont be buying it..haha...you need to plan when to get the car,not just walk in and buy anytime.

and if you do buy, please drive for long time..dont sell..coz u'll be complaining the car got no resale value then.

Resell value actually more of a demand & supply story....

IF and only if this FORTE really did sell well , eventually NAZA stocks will run low they don't need to slash discount just to clear old stock. Then slowly the value will have a better position.

IF the out come is buyer are still in favor of other brands, but Naza have stock up because they need to meet Annual Order from Kia, just to keep his dealership on contract. Then when warehouse quite pack d they will just throw price.....

The only chance I see Honda & Toyota will throw price is when they launch a new model I wouldn't say throw but was quite a big discount, I was offer the old city with up to 5k discount when the new one was launched.

When there's more of a typical model on the road eventually there will be ppl bring in more parts, bigger quantity cheaper price ......

Do you know for a 2nd hand Merc is easier to maintain compare to BMW ? because the numbers of Merc on the road and the year of dominance of market in that category. Well this info was given by Seniors who like to purchase or trade 2nd hand car..... either way a 2nd hand Merc is quite worthwhile to buy because of the body built, engine, and 2nd hand depreciation % is lower for car which are pre-owned compare to fresh new ..... but you must be able to maintain it.

I really do look forward for this but currently I am having a Forte vs City thingy going on, very much the decision will be made after the AFTA announcement, with condition of getting a 2010 car by 1st quarter 2010.

Most ppl are guessing that Naza will Launch it after AFTA, with a firm price segment but be caution as insider news are out saying that new buyer might be having a car which is manufactured / delivered to Malaysia on the 1st or 2nd quarter 2009.

I heard NAZA will launch Forte at end of this month. If I were to buy the Forte, it will be in Jan 2010. No point driving for less than 2 months and suffer a 1 year depreciation. Do expect the 1st batch of Forte is manufactured in 1st Q 09 as the whole batch of cars has been laying in the warehouse since Jun. So potential buyer please check thru the car carefully before accepting the key for the car.

In order to built the punlic confident towards KIA, NAZA has to place the Forte price below the Japanese, promotion and also improve their service centers. They must sacrifice and accept that they make less profit with the selling price drop. They will garnish back the profit once the volume of sales is hit and maintain.

Yes! but AD over promised.. now a whole new bunch is waiting for it.. for as long as 6 months! i am one of them...

Well... all forte Auto should comes with sportstronic (aka +/- thing)... but with 4 gears i doubt its really tat useful...(to me really nothing to play about.. unless... really auto respond comes too slow.)

for 82k with push button.. (w/ immobilizer) think is super worth.. (with that i would not expect them to short cut on other things ya?)

as to compare with city... personally tested both cars.. over here (SG) city is way overpriced! if price is within.. its anyone call (resale definitely Honda is way better but i must say its consumer's perceptions.) Forte is a good car as city in every bit.. (again its personal view again...)

however i read it from auto magazine that Chevy Cruze is going to launch soon too...
price might be slightly higher.. is a good car tho..

with market value issue, this price is expensive for me.. although it's the cheapest for push start button and leather (i guess this will be included).

market value is important coz we don't know whether you'll use the car for entire life.. if got stolen, then problem wooooooooo
