Its officially dead...now i'm going to claim warranty from Sony SG..mine is CECHG-06 model..damn damn damn..hope they can fix it for free

my ps3 lense just died last week, got bernard to repair it. so far ok. before it happen the same thing happen to ka3tr0 happen to me.... so ka3tr0 BE PREPARE!!!

Eh..where is this Bernard shop ? How long and how much ? I dont mind pay him to do it if its gonna take Sony SG a month to repair..got money but dont have the time

my lens also rosak last time i repiar it around rm300 .

Wow..i went to playstation.com forum..hell, there was so many cases reported on this, all happen during 2.17 to 2.2 updates..

A brief of what happen to mine,

Was playing COD4, then i experience lost of sound during in game ground war battle..the sound crackle, then fade..then total silence but still able to play games..when i search the forum, theres one user with exact same problem...

I thought it must be some software glitch..so continue, then join new game...when the game begin..i got stuck at waiting for players with clock ticking...then it freeze. Press the PS button and quit..it blanks and stays blank...reset and all hell broke loose...BD cant detect and all shit.

Off for an hour..can detect BD again...then it froze during movie..with disc error..off for hour and you can detect the BD back...it keeps on repeating

Last i detect BD was around 12 pm where i play dave mattews...it play until the opening song then zzzzzz...freeze P(*&^%($(^&#($$^&$(^&$(^&$...somehow i think its not a BD lense problem..must be something running in background that does all this. If its lense, then it should have died straight away. Agree ?? Mine different..it come back on after i shut down but only for a while..

Its 6 am in the morning and i'm still scratching my head..why ? I was thinking there must be something conflicting, i did everything i can to observed the trend on the lights..blue..wifi...then something trigger me, the wifi was blinking heavily when i inserted any disc...wtf, i confirm this again with another BD, yup, its blinking heavily again...then i remember that update 2.2 was supposed to be Blue Ray profile 2.0 which supposed to enable BD internet JAVA thingie, so i went to BD/DVD setting and disable

1. Disc auto start - OFF
2. BD internet connect - Confirm

The latter to ensure that when you poped in the BD, it will ask whether or not to connect to the internet, i select NO...and guess what


I GOT BACK MY BD !!!! CONFIRM CAN PLAY COD4 & ALL MY BD



Now someone really need to take this and s*ove it up SONY A**...go run some test and proof it...if there any network logger, i would have log what ps3 trying to send when we inserted the BD...i'm ASSUMING it must be related to copyright issue/DRM...go on and spread the word on the fix...i'm tired and need to sleep...we'll see tommorow if this fix can hold...finally can listen to my dave mathews (the whole bd without freeze)

Huhu.. good for you.. that's a good tip for everyone incase their lense is dead.. better check for the settings first, before doing lense replacement..

a VERY good info indeed. I wonder how many ppl mistakenly change lense only because of this config issues.

Mine was having the same problem, cant detect any BD but once I changed the setting, everything is fine.

actually its not LENSE. it's LENS. a little painful to the eyes to read lense actually V_V
