Hi engineered_miri,

My PS3 also kena the same thing ... cannot read any type of discs
And I have the PS3 only for less than 2 months !
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/494788
I now know that it was not due to the firmware ... rather it is hardware related

Now ... only thing I can do is download and play the short demos from PSN cry.gif

I noticed on my machine that when I inserted any type of discs, the blue indicator on the front would instantly turn blue
(on a good working unit, the blue indicator would blink ... i.e, the disc is reading, and only turn blue when the PS3 has decided what type of disc it is)
I also noticed that there were no vibrations on my "kaput" PS3.
I conclude (wrongly ?) that the motor (to rotate the disc) is probably not rotating at all
(is this correct ? Can u confirm it when u open up your PS3 ?)
Maybe it is not the lens error ?
Maybe the disc rotating motor is at fault ?

Any update on your lens replacement ?

Eagerly awaiting your results. Thanks.
