bro wanna ask..did D5000 dont have auto focus? cos i read in some article
"the D5000 doesn't have an autofocus motor built into the body but does gain a tilt-and-swivel LCD."

can explain abit? cos im still comparing it D5000 and D60..confusing..
thx.
*
swt... sweat.gif
autofocus motor is needed turn the focusing mechanism
the motor could be in the cam's body in some models
or the motor is in the lens for non built in motor cams

for example, D40/40X/60/5000 dun have built in motor
u nid to buy AF-S lenses with motor only u can auto focus
D90 n above models have built in motor,
so any lenses can autofocus on them, with or without motor in lens

It depends on the situation I think. Certain situations can be overcome by our technique whereas other situations require the use of better or more specialised gear.

For me.... it is hard to compare as the AF50 f1.8 becomes a manual focus lens on my D40. For portraits to be both are about the same except for the distance where you stand (35 is about 1/2 distance of the 50 on DX). To me, the difference I can feel is that the 35mm is slightly sharper than the 50mm and it has a smoother bokeh when stopped down.
*
so u're trying to say IQ is better on 35?

Slightly better and it is a more flexible range than the 50mm f1.8.
*
but if compare wif 50mm f1.4, 50 is better rite?

Guys, i nid suggestions here
shud i save up to buy 18-200 now, then save to buy 50 f1.4 or 50 f1.8 much much later?(very long cos mahal)
OR save to buy 18-200, then buy 35 f1.8 much earlier as dun nid save so much?
OR buy 35 f1.8 1st then only save for 18-200?

i really like to do portraits n bokeh shots now, so interested to get prime lenses,
but i dun have zoom lens, which will giv me problems if i travel
so not sure get all in 1 zoom lens 1st so can do all purpose shot
or sacrifice zoom shots to get great portraits n bokeh shots?

if ask which lens i really wan, i wan prime lens >.<
but 2 things make me hesitate:
1)if i go on travel, prime lens would b practically not usefull for me
2)u think will it be a waste for a beginner like to get a prime lens?

actually i would say buying prime lens will be good for u.... since u like portrait n bokeh so much... n i think kit lens will be enough for u to go travel...

actually kit lens can perform quite well... try to play around wit it 1st be4 getting any lenses...
*
actually im facing 2 limitations now wif my kit lens, which oso cause the headache im having now
1)kit lens aperture not high enaf for bokeh shots
2)most significant, zoom not enaf! really hate cant zoom in on subjects when i went HK recently >.<

Guys, I'd like to ask a few questions here.. does anyone know where I can buy replica/3rd party lens hood for Nikkor lenses? If anyone remembers some time ago I stated that my HB-35 hood broke.. it's for my 18-200VR.

Also, my father let me use his SB-600 + Lambency Flash Diffuser (the mangkuk type). What kind of shooting would require/best used with the flash diffuser? Say I were to shoot in a large, enclosed area (stadium), what angle should my flash best be pointed at?
*
the lambency diffuser is designed for use when there is no ceiling to bounce flash
n i tot using this diffuser normally point 90degree up?

Sigma 18-200mm OS HSM is quite good for the price i can say. Of course lower IQ compared to Nikon 18-200 or Tammy 18-270. But so far I'm satisfied with it
*
i agree Sigma is quite good,
since Kimura u told me b4 thumbup.gif

but is it worth spending 1k less to get Sigma instead of Nikon?

Errr no... 24-70mm f2.8 covers all ranges between 24 and 70... why would I wanna buy back something that falls within that range.  biggrin.gif

Selling to buy.... errr... nothing at the moment. I don't see myself needing anything any time soon... unless it's the 200mm f2, or a 500mm, or a 60mm Macro, or a SB-800/900 flash.... or a UWA.  tongue.gif

wat is UWA? rclxub.gif
