I don't see there is any reason to get another Geforce card for Physx unless you have a spare one. So far I don't see any significant impact with PhysX in any game... mirror edge is nice but you kinda forget it is there after a few hours of gameplay.

Cryostasis is forgettable also... boring game... sleep.gif zzz

Physx got two different of calculating :

1) Calculate using CPU
2) Calculate using GPU (this is where only-for-nvidia-card)

Some games does use physcis by PhysX(which requires Ageia/Nvidia physics pack), and some games use physics by Havok.

So far only ageia/nvidia physics solution that needs to have extra installer...while havok don't.

If ATi has physx then it should support Nvidia CUDA for gpu folding in the first place.

ATi cards can do GPU folding way loooong time before NV.

ADD: anyway it's different from NV's PhysX.

that technology is far abandoned to for physics, seems like its forgotten by time.

@Terence573,

Please take note, when installing driver for nVidia. You must using Physic card driver. Not using normal forceware driver.

Have you tried?
*
physics card driver?? means ageia driver?

if like tat never tried b4.

8600GT and above claimed to have physx support. Still, my friend 8800gts 320mb doesn't have support for physx. Weird, it could be driver then.

even 8400gs has physX. Early G80 doesnt have physX, but after driver updates, it can be used as physX card.

SLI cannot be done on a CF board unless you are super pro that you know how to hack it. You can put 2 nv cards though, one as gpu and one as ppu.

it is not that they don't have physx. they just don't have capability to run cuda programming..

GPU manufactures are very clever making people to buy more than 1 card to get performance,As i know that ATI uses Havoc ann nvidia uses physx

Personal thought, waiting for ATI to implement Havoc using GC. Mind as well, wait for DirectX 11 that utilize Computer Shader (Similar to OpenCL) in next generation card. (RV870 and GT300).

With Intel owning Havoc now. It is gonna be hard to bring all Physic processing off CPU entirely. Havoc is still leading Physx now in terms of no of games support.

that one Havok...and they still developing it (last month they(amd) show it to public in order to counter the loud brought by nvidia)

Nope..you are wrong there

Physx -GPU can only be render by Nvidia and ageia ppu card

but Havok can be render by ati and nvidia card (and any graphic card that support opencl). Its a absolute win solution for end-user..

Technology has to start somewhere sweat.gif
Havok is a very basic, basic, basic form of physics compared to physX
