@fylon,your CM690 by default also have quite good air circulation in the casing too.The casing itself has tiny holes to dissipate the heat from inside, won't it help much?

Loled edmin burn to him too...By the way is the CM690 having good air flow by default as the original design of the casing can help to dissipate heat too. Interested to get one unit in the future.

QUOTE(pengster @ Jun 7 2009, 05:28 PM) Yeah actually this was the 2nd time I've reinstalled the Ultra90. Used Tuniq TX-2 and followed the directions properly for quad core cpus. Contact seems fine How you installed your Ultra90 during the first time? Is there another way to install the haetsink? Ambient temp is about 37-38c so I guess its alright? |

QUOTE(pengster @ Jun 7 2009, 09:25 PM) First time after setting up the new parts I totally didn't know that for quad core cpus you're supposed to apply the TIM in a line across the cpu. So i just did the normal way, a blob in the middle TIM in a line?@edmin Yeah its a so-so cooler. Will be getting a Red Scorpion soon. Hopefully it can bring down the temps below 50c idle |

TIM in a line is going to use less thermal paste than our normal way? This is interesting.

Afternoon time spent a few hours to inspect my crap 2600XT ori cooler, reapply thermal paste still giving the same performance like before. The main point of it is the heat is exhausting at the rear GC itself.Stupid design from ATI. Changing the cooler to Cool Viva normal version with 1 heatpipe gave the worsen reading, temp shot up to 70+ C during idle. It is easy to climb to 80+ in a while.

QUOTE(bai1101 @ Jun 8 2009, 10:39 PM) hmm having difficult time OC my P4 3.0 HT Prescott E0 stepping Nope, don't use the AI Overclocking from Asus. Overclock manually by trying with the sotck vCore setting. I recommend you to set the RAM to 2.68V for your RAM. Lock the AGP and PCI ratio with a fix value. No idea is my ram or my CPU limit it, every time i OC 10% above ori CPu sure auto restart when log in window. Weird.... USing Asus P4P800-X |

kabu, there are some gems for P4 like Hynix D43 & BT-J series, TCCD and others. There is one crazy chip which needs 3.0V+ to run in high FSB,forgot the name though.

fylon,no point to get teh BH5 with DDR booster. It will occupy a place on the RAM slot.

QUOTE(fylon @ Jun 9 2009, 11:02 AM) @Ray @fylon,currently i'm running 4 sticks of RAM with 1:1 divider on 225FSB,quite happy with it as the performance mode is still on even with 4 sticks. In P4 era, most ppl are OC using 2stick of ram due to 4stick will draw down the OC ability of the mobo. Thus DDR booster aint a problem. P/s: I think the CPU-Z screw up on detecting the P4 to Xeon man. Didnt see there is an ES printing on the chip HSF and the CPU sPec was valid for the that chip. Weird! Human error! Added on June 9, 2009, 11:33 am@kabu,Asus P4 P800-X can't run with 1:1 divider right? This post has been edited by raymond5105: Jun 9 2009, 11:33 AM |

QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 9 2009, 01:07 PM) Dont talk about the ol skool rigs. Even my museum rig finds it hard to run 4 sticks of ram. That also is 1337 ram. I had to spend 2 whole days fine tuning the system to run with 4 sticks. In the end had to sacrifice a lil bit of speed(75mhz) on the CPU OC. 4 sticks of ram really headache. Which chip are you with? 1337 ram? |

QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 9 2009, 03:17 PM) I was using l337 speak as in l337 means elite, top stuff. Hehe. Didn't realize it will confuse ppl thinking my ram runs 1337 MHz. It's 4 sticks of 2gb Kingston HyperX 1066mhz rams. Sry for the confusion. LOL Oh DDR2 there. No wander...This is definitely confusing old schools. |
