no way, we're not that extreme yet. what we did was making sure our CPU was screwed properly and apply the TIM evenly also. the procedure of screwing the bolt through kit matters, don't tighten all screws at one time, do it slowly one at a time to be make sure all corners are leveled and not 'senget' one side (example, if you turn two times of the screw on a screw, make sure do the same to other screws, don't tighten down all screws at one time), so the TIM will spread evenly with the pressure applied. this will also ensure no air pocket trapped in the process. my cpu is not concave that terribly yet, so i just try my best to close in the gap by proper techniques.

for some coolers (like my TRUE120), i did a 'washer mod' to increase the pressure of the mounting kit, improves my temp by 3C.

Mod the washer of your cooler? hmm.gif Increase the pressure to the proc, will it spoils the proc surface?

@edmin,i will shift over to Vista later and maybe use VMware to load in Win XP and Windows 7. Even it's in VMware,i still manage to enable my Audigy ZS inside.

Added on June 14, 2009, 2:26 pmI believe the scores can goes higher if i install the full version of it. drool.gif

Kinda hard to say whether is the W7 causing the high CPU usage or ur hardware cant support it. But highly i believed the high usage is cause by vmware. As everything is rendered by CPU like what edmin say, and u only have 1 core to support all the processing task by my main and virtual OS. sweat.gif
*
Yup,maybe is the the reason of 1 core,it can't detect my HT inside VMware.I heard even dual core VMware will show up only 1 core inside.

Winamp playback error from my machine.

*
I'm with 6.5.0 version of VMware. Not sure what's the problem with my system eh.Maybe P4 is lacking of virtualization tech in behind? wink.gif

guys,

can prescott cored 3.0E used with 845PE chipset?
i tried 845PE chipset with 2.4C and no problem so far.
Is it possible that 3.0E used on that chipset?

2nd question,

i fried the southbridge, small spark came out.
don't know what happened.

@fylon,i dun think the OS can't recognise my proc correctly.I'm doubt with the VMware. Usually people will use Vista as main and Win XP as virtual one,not sure does this one affects.

@fylon,i guess i've made a wrong decision to make W7 in virtual. I'm glad that my Audigy 2 ZS driver is detectable in VMware.

@fylon,i saw that video also i think. The 1942 stuffs rocks in W7. sweat.gif sweat.gif I bet your C2Q is able to be detected correctly in W7,no doubts your proc is newer than P4.

@kabu & dlwl, i run Win7 on my 1942 rig with VMware, but seems like the performance is not optimize yet. You can see my attactments from previous page. I plan to migrate to Vista by end of next month (after i get the installer) and will try to run VM in Vista again. But in my mind i think would be better to run the Win7 with another partition boots.VMware has some limitation in graphic and other performance. I believe our old school is still able to handle Win7 well as i got 4.2 score for my CPU rating. laugh.gif
