Anyway, nothing much happen i guess?

PCI-E on P4 rig? I guess that would be kinda hard, our proc will barely cope up with the faster GC. hmm.gif

Yea, that is why I immediately ask those things when I saw him reply.
Let me hard guess, mostly all estimation

SuperPi - >37sec
3DMark05 - 8500
3DMark06 - 4000

Fast show us the results, I'm waiting. tongue.gif

Super Pi should be about 40s i guess.
3D mark 06 i only manage to get 3.3k like that as my proc is a bit slow to handle it. wink.gif 3D mark 05 can just be ignore as not really popular nowadays. biggrin.gif

so long haven't call into this thread, now few pages at the back already! just done a little upgrade for my rig, still at Pentium 4 but at lga775 with new mobo MSI G31M3-LS V2 and a new Nvidia 512 mb DDR2 9400 GT graphic card.

Ok this is an old processor but new in my hand thumbup.gif , an Intel pentium 4 prescott 531, 3.0ghz, 800fsb, 1mb L2 cache, E0 stepping and so on. I got it without the box and quite blur what it offer in term of features. Upon checking the Everest it says that the processor support HTT and x86-64bit, could it be? googling around the wiki and forum sounds true. Can it be fitted with Windows 7 64bit version, any advice?

i believe it can run it well, windows 7 is still able to run well on older systems compared to vista.

I see, thanks dlwl. Thinking changing to the 64bit by this week. Now using the 32bit, just want to get something optimum between the hardware and the OS.

There are not so many softwares which is working in 64bits environment. Even with a 64bits OS,most of the softwares are still running at 32 bits.Moving to 64bits isn't a necessary.

My rig(mobo) is past 6 years now. Intel boards really are built like tanks, they just won't give up blink.gif
Playing latest games isn't possible anymore. Even with the fastest agp card, the proc just couldn't keep up. unsure.gif

#raymond, just what I am thinking. Moving to 64bit isn't necessary as I am using 2gb ram which I understand the performance wouldn't be so great. Moreover my processor currently a x86-64, supported to 64bit but I am sure it is not par to amd64 or em64t (or it just a marketing gimmicks?)

#mengwhye, you received a clear signal from your old intel mobo, it's time to get a new toy!
