could it be the way you guys take out your discs?? so far i've got the same games, and i play almost everyday, esp. Killzone 2 and there's no crack on any of them. dont force the disc out or snap it out, press the middle properly, i guess it could be from taking the disc out forcefully without pressing the middle.

hey guys, if I still playing with the cracked disc, would it increase the chance for PS3 to get YLOD?

I don't think YLOD would be caused by the crack.. but the crack will just get worse and worse and may cause the disc unplayable

In addition to my Quantum of Solace crack, I went back and checked all my games and woolah, Disgaea 3 got crack already. I don't think I'm going to play my PS3 until I get the center ring sticker and a new box to store my CDs, not going to use the original box anymore.

One of the things that many forumers mentioned, which I also think it makes sense, is dont put the CD back to the box immediately after playing, better still, get those plastic casings which Jack Sparrow usually stores his CDs, or get something like what Oyama posted. Thats what I'll do at least sad.gif

i seriously think it depends on how you take out put in the discs. I play mine regularly, most are r3 and no cracks what so ever.

It's hard for me to believe that the cracks can exist if it's handled properly. You guys sure it's never ripped out from the casing without pressing? The news that made headlines about it are from netflix, where people rent bluray discs. It's entirely possible that those who rent those cds have no qualms about just pulling out the discs without pressing the center.

I for one checked all my discs and all of them are fine.

It's the built quality that causes this problem.. I do pay extra care to my gaming stuff, and for PS3 it is especially so for MGS4 and yet only MGS4 is cracked sleep.gif

What I do now is put the disc on the table for 10-20 seconds for it to cool off, once its cold, I now press the middle button and put the disc on it, usually I just press the disc down when its hot. Someone in this thread stated that a hot disc and pressing it down directly might be the cause, makes a lot of sense so I'm doing it for now.

yeah. i agree with this. maybe it's just me, but i think it's not the BD quality, maybe it's the casing. because i have a R1 disc(naruto) and lots of R3 discs. compared to R3, when I take out or put in the R1 game in it's casing, the popping sound is barely noticeable and quieter. for the R3s, it make a loud pop sound whenever the disc is put in. but then i only have one R1 game so i can't say for sure about this. or maybe i'm just being ridiculous heh tongue.gif

i blame partially to the BD manufacturer(hey...there's always a bad production batch now & then) and another half to the user(improper way handle the disc)
