Just wonder, do the cracks affect the gameplay? I haven't had any disc that failed on me before so I never really check about the crack thing

Think of it, I haven't heard/experienced of such issue from DVD/CD. Does this only apply to BD?

So it's the snapping case causing all these? Honestly at first I thought the PS3 motor too big the penetrate the BD hole that caused this
Have to be extra cautious taking games out from now on |

Ya, the old cases just have to press the center to take out the disc. I always have difficulty taking disc out from the tight lock cases

Then the price is low due to stock clearance and sales, nothing to do with lowering costs of BD production

QUOTE(BlastFromThePast @ May 19 2009, 04:04 PM) Dammit, after reading this topic, I checked all my games. Dead Space(R3) and Street Fighter IV(R3) both have tiny crack on them(both games were bought from the same shop too, LOL). Fortunately, I rarely play those games. Are there any precautions to play games that their disc are cracked? Like only play maximum for 2 hours, etc. or are they unplayable at all? It will only get worse.. nothing can be done anymore |

Yup, my family's old projection TV broke down and asked them to fix it. The lady said it was an old model andthey don't get the repair parts anymore and that's it. That TV was just purchased less than 3 years before breaking down. Luckily it was still fixed but by outside people

I don't think YLOD would be caused by the crack.. but the crack will just get worse and worse and may cause the disc unplayable

QUOTE(slickz @ Jul 9 2009, 05:27 PM) It's hard for me to believe that the cracks can exist if it's handled properly. You guys sure it's never ripped out from the casing without pressing? The news that made headlines about it are from netflix, where people rent bluray discs. It's entirely possible that those who rent those cds have no qualms about just pulling out the discs without pressing the center. It's the built quality that causes this problem.. I do pay extra care to my gaming stuff, and for PS3 it is especially so for MGS4 and yet only MGS4 is cracked I for one checked all my discs and all of them are fine. |
