Whenever one is talking about the North Bridge (NB) of a Phenom II, it is safe to assume that they are talking about the CPU-NB. The CPU-NB is a section of the CPU that controls the L3, Memory Controller and the Hyper-Transport (HTT).

What i can feel is..My extracting,scanning,loading,converting become faster by around 2~10% since i overclocked the NB Frequency.

CPU-NB Voltage applies extra voltage to the on-die Northbridge controller, so raising it *will* increase your CPU's temps.

The only reason to increase this voltage beyond [Auto] is if you're having issues with raising the HT and the RAM together. Raising this voltage will create some stability for higher HT overclocks, but at a greater expense of temperatures than it's actually worth.

Stock, I believe, is 1.20V for the 940 on the M3A and M4A series boards, and bumping it up to 1.22 or 1.24 can help with some stability issues, and it seems like your board automatically overvolts the CPU-NB by .3 to .5V once you go higher than 1.25V, so keep that in consideration, but like I said, you're *gonna* be raising the temp of the CPU by doing so - so raising it isn't really worth the effort, especially if you can overclock without it by other means.

Remember, you're talking about the on-die NB controller, not the motherboard's NB controller...AMD systems have had the memory controller on-die for quite some time, and it's not to be confused with the 'other' NB

like 8tvt said... if oc proc only, nb cant adept the fast data from proc.. so nb btlenecking cpu
and vise versa (is that so 8tvt?)

so how come in ts case, he oc nb up to 6ghz..but able to feel the difference.
as exmple 9150 stuck at 2.4ghz. so the nb freq that suitable for it is 2ghz (as example only)
but he oc the nb and still feel the difrence..... er.. noob what to learn.and corrct me if im wrong

This thing also pening coz when mentioning o/c'ing the NB like for my mobo there is option to set the volt for NB or CPU-NB, which one do we have to raise the volt when tinkering with the NB speed??

actually,what is cpu-nb?where its located inside the proc?. nvr heard of it before..

so means the NB Freq we OC is the CPU-NB??
