my iPhone 3G is from the UK.
NO warranty either. If you JB-ed it wrong, just restore it back to 3.0 and you can try again.
I did it after spending 1 hour reading. Anyone can do it too.

so i just need upgrade to version 3.
unlock it with ultrasnow and jailbreak with redsnow ?

u got to upgrade first, then jailbreak using redsnow then last step only unlock using ultrasnow.

Please use the guide/tutorial provided. The tutorials has picture guides you can follow. There are some female forumers who can JB their iPhone and i don't see why you can't. Nothing is difficult until you put some time read and read and read and read till you understand.

If you're command in English is not good as you have mentioned it before, you can translate the tutorial to Chinese so you can understand better.

BTW are you using Vista?

It's not advised to use Vista with redsn0w, as problems can pop up.

BTW you need to follow those instructions exactly.

Home button is the one in the middle of the iPhone. Power button, well it's on the upper right corner.

Like i said, using redsn0w with Vista will give you problems. Please refer to the first page. Try using only on XP.

That just means your iphone is now back to its original restored state i.e. LOCKED.

JB with redsn0w using XP and then unlock it with ultrasn0w.

PLEASE read the guide carefully before you do it.

bro, please take note to use the correct version of the IPSW file.

If you downloaded from iclarified, check that it's the same version as stated in the first page of the thread.

i've downloaded the 3G 3.0 IPSW from the first page link and i don't face any issues in the restore/jailbreak process. if redsn0w 0.8 gives you problem, try to use the older 0.7.2 version.

I need some help. I get very confused when I read on various unlock/jailbreak tutorials that if my iphone 3g uses Yellowsn0w then I can't use redsn0w, etc.

My prob is someone bought me the iphone from Hong Kong and it's already unlocked but it's jailbroken and when I checked in Cydia, it has Yellowsn0w. So I think it's not the original unlocked version of iphones they sell in HK. I dunno where the seller got his phones from but I suspect since I have Yellowsn0w in my phone, it could be an originally locked version.

Now I wanna upgrade it from 2.2 to 3.0 but I'm stuck when I read about not being able to use redsn0w if I have Yellowsn0w in it. So what do I do now? Can I use Ultrasn0w without Redsn0w? Or can I just go ahead with redsn0w then Ultrasn0w? And I've updated my iTunes to 8.2 but I still see it say I can update to 2.2.1 rather than 3.0...so if I download the 3.0 firmware from the link provided in this thread then when I update, will it update automatically to 3.0?

Please can someone answer these questions in a simple way fit for a super noobie like me?? I'm noticing how outdated my iphone is everyday being stuck in 2.2...

Here's what I think you should do:

1) Restore your iPhone to 3.0 using the IPSW link provided in the first page
2) Jailbreak using Redsn0w on your XP machine - install CYDIA only
3) Using Cydia, install ultrasn0w
4) Unlock, and enjoy.
