omg i planning to buy a 3gs this couple weeks

That article had a point though, I mean it is pretty unfair to developers when we have people using cracked versions of their work. This of course always goes back to the argument between parties that they want to JB the phone for honest reasons etc... but alas, in this thread alone we had a couple of retards who were already asking about piracy :/

Seriously though, if you really like the app guys, buy it. These developers work hard to make these apps, this is not JUST a hobby for them.. some of them actually quite their jobs to go into full time app development and thus you are stealing their livelihood.

heya, i'm using 3.01 fw now, if i want to upgrade it to 3.1.2, will all my apps be deleted once i upgrade?
and does blackrain works on my maxis 3gs set?

if software all original, it will be restored, provided u did sync with ur pc/mac

if software from cydia/hacked, software will be gone unless u did something, not to be discussed

not sure if its posted here, i follow the iclarified on jb using pwnage 3.1.4 on my 3GS iphone

so when i reach the screen it ask me to plug in the phone to go into DFU mode, it somehow didnt detect my phone, but my itunes 9.0.1 does

so now i have my custom ipsw and i try using itunes(DFU mode) to restore using my custom ipsw also failed, says illegal ipsw

any idea guys?

built using my pwnage tool 3.1.4

For app from apple store, I don't think so because itunes will auto backup, and resynch after jb. as per cydia, install aptbackup after jb.

i suspect you somehow did not create it correctly. How big you set for the root partition?
I used to get that error back when the first pwnagetool published. I have to recreate the custom fw.
Try to increase the root partition, at least 695MB.

i put 695MB following the steps in iclarified
i only install cydia using the pwnage tools

did u guys install cydia? or u jb without installing cydia?

even if i synced with itunes, will my game saves still be in there after i sync after upgrade to 3.1.2?

so far, all my games save game remain, but who knows, there is instance it was never backup

Did you use PwnageTool before this to JB ?
Most people will install with Cydia (at least) for sure...

The last one I created, I set the root partition to 1024 (1GB) and it works fine.
If you set is maxis set or officially unlock, uncheck the activation, otherwise, check it.
Install only cydia (uncheck Icy).
Uncheck customized logos (I do not like those).

I think that should do it.

currently my phone is 3.0.1 iphone 3gs maxis set with jb using redsnow

so now i will proceed to make 1gb of root partition and install only cydia,

wish me luck !

I am just curious.. if you are using a Maxis set (hence unlocked).. why do you need to use Pwnage tool? Why not just use blackrain?

anyone know how to fix the problem so that blackra1n JB iphone can work with ifunbox?
