hi.. i have a otb 3.1 unlocked maxis 16gb 3gs. So can i just update to 3.1.2 using itunes then jb using blackrain? or i need to use this pawnage tool to update?

awaiting for BlackSn0w (new jailbreak tool) which will going to release at 15th Oct 2009. A lot of customization can be made before jailbreak.

i will believed it until they have delivered(blacksn0w)....a lot of people have been tricks by this people....appuloha1l for example...

Added on October 14, 2009, 11:25 pmu can try it first....i learn it from what happen to my self ...after creating the custom firmware...u just do it by manually.....like windows user like me used to do....put it DFU mode and let itunes detect in recovery mode and alt + shift to select ur FW....

I guess so & hope an update to rectify will come soon. i tried to remove MobileSubstrate (which inevitably removed Backgrounder too) as claimed by some forummers, but still won't work on my 3GS.

Also, my Cydelete isn't working too...sigh...

if ur phone are 2g and don't worry about downgrade or upgrade ur FW.....yes u can use redsnow to jailbreak and unlocked ur iphone....gudluck

Apple is now shipping the iPhone 3GS with a new Bootrom that is not vulnerable to the 24kpwn exploit.

The iBoot-359.3.2 started to ship last week. A screenshot posted by Mathieulh shows the new version number.

MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed that the loss of the 24kpwn exploit would mean a normal jailbreak would be impossible for the time being.

oh oh, from what @cpich3g + @Mathieulh have found so far, a normal untethered JB may be in jeopardy in brand new 3GS units

For the time being we would suggest locating old stock or refurbished units. Hopefully, the dev teams will be able to find another exploit for the new bootrom.

guys, heard that iphone 3gs os3.1 can now be jailbroken. my iphone is currently os3.0.1 and i've jailbroken it. let's say if i want to update my firmware to 3.1. do i just use itunes to update it to 3.1 and then jailbreak it again? or is there another way that i should use since i've jail broken my phone once. i would prefer a clean install and don't mind jailbreaking it all over again. any advise?

guys.. I haven't update myself for quite sometime now.. Can I just ask a few questions? Previously, it was said 3.1 couldn't be JB'ed right? So does the new Blackrain JB's 3GS on 3.1?? And is ther any problems persisted with it??
So I have a 3GS by MAxis, it means I am safe to update to 3.1.2 and JB it without any problems right?

you can even JB a 3.1.2 now. just restore/update and jailbreak.


blackra1n works on 3.1.2. yes.


blackra1n should be utilising the current 24k exploit as well and thus, not working wit the new bootrom.

Was not successful jailbreaking missus Iphone 3G NZ vodafone set last nite. The blackrain kept running but nothing and the iphone showed DFU mode (connect USB to Itunes). Tried a few times and then itunes was activated but not recognizing the iphone, tried changing to other USB ports and even killed the Itunes process, still same result? Any suggestions, Thanks

I am on 3.1.2 and yes its draining my battery fast when on 3g but i dont know if its normal as i cant test as i cant seem to put my iphone down.3.1.2 has increased my 3g and wifi connection considerably and my network is more stable though.Anyone has tested on standby for 3.1.2?Also to note that initially i just updated from 3.0.1 to 3.1.2 but after that i did a clean restore to 3.1.2 and set up as a new phone which makes my 3gs feels much better and smoother

Added on October 15, 2009, 9:37 ambro once u click make it rain,and phone goest to restore mode itunes will open up.Kill itunes and kill the blackra1n app.Open blackra1n app again click make it rai1n again.It worked for some.Please also note that for 3g sets it's a bit stubborn and u need to be persistent and do it several times.Good luck
