Could it be the lack of PO4?

Well, I am going to start dosing dry ferts next week. I've just ordered 1kg of KN03 and 1kg KH2PO4. Going EI style.

those KN03 and KH2PO4 will be cheaper ?

It is cheaper but I myself are not very fluent in using such ferts. I am going to give it a try and see how it turns out.

what a rainy day.. made my little tank remain at 26 degree in temperature.. KOOL~

my tank damn weird lah.. if i leave it for weeks never on lights or filter, the plants grow very well.. when i clean the tank walls add co2, dose a little fert.. then all starts go haywire o.O

Most importantly what was your dosing regiment, lighting regiment, and filtration... oh.. water parametres ( ammonia, nitrite nitrate , pH, and temperature )...

was wondering whats the electricity bill like for a 2 feet by 1 feet tank with a 55W light ? or anything similar ?

Here's my update so far. Last time i had 1 inch plus of the Gex soil. Listened to chuppy advice and went to get more Gex xD. Used half bag (about 1 kg) on top of my 2kg already in there and made a slope. Also bought some horn wort, 1 anubias nana on a small drift wood and bought some java moss to put on my driftwood. Left some space in front for hairgrass, but thinking of not going thru the hassle cause i want to keep the tank low tech (no CO2 and low lighting).




Bought 2 yamato shrimps last saturday. Came back home to find one dead (turned orange). This is the sole survivor. Suspect that i did 25% water change. I took water from tap, mix some dechlorinator in and put into tank right away.


Bought 3 ottos too. The ottos and shrimp really helped clean up the dust algae. 2 days and most of the black dots on the plants are now gone. Big difference. Gonna get moar shrimps =D. They're fun to watch =D.

@daijoubu.. what is ur water temperature... and seem ur anubias nana having Green Spot Algae... i also the same... =3=

@chuppy.. having a otto.. possible a live around 29-30 degree in SOME TIME ?

because i also thinking to have yamato shimp.. however, still hav to think about my tetras.. they like to bully 1..

about DIY co2.. u can use any yeast and sugar will do.. just need to have a correct recipe with warm water.. but the DIY co2 is unstable compare to pressurized co2.. dun feel shy to ask more.. i also asked a lot.. and my CHUPPY teacher will come and guide me..

Temp range from 25C to 28C depending on time of day and outside weather. Last night it almost hit 24C because cold outside. In a room with 2 PCs that gets quite hot but with the fan can maintain max 28C.

Actually the picture u see now is MUCH better than last time before i put in the otto =.=. Before that, all my plants covered with black dust like algae. Like got haze like that haha. Once the otto go in, within 2 days clear alot already .

my 1ft tank infected with bba... having 2 sae also not much helping as they always wait for fish food lol...

so is it becoz of unstable co2 supplied?

trimming my hairgrass & moss to max now...

yea.. otto is better than SAE.. my SAE more worst.. make my hairgrass loose from the soil... thinking to take out my sae..

Want to ask. I got a 1.5 feet tank with a rock and HC growing. How many cherry shrimp can I put in there?

Currently there are only 11 neon tetras.

(Asking cause buy some but minimum purchase is 20 shrimps) is that too much??

lol pinchbiyz and his hate for fake ornaments!

P.s. Might go mother nature robbing, northern area. anyone know any hot spots with lots of nice dw?
