The polystyrene box is meant to insulate the box better. Having paper wrapped around the tupperware box is plainly not efficient enough.. Having the poly box and maybe some cold packs help! Correct me if I'm wrong.

How is your tank temperature? How do you filter your tank? What tank size? we need to know some of the info first before we can comment.

It's nice to know you did some research before hand. THough I'd dose c02.. but I guess moss could take it without c02. biggrin.gif

Do keep us updated.

Okay For a guppy no c02 low tech tank. I'd get a 2~3 feet tank.. and then.. what i'd invest heavily on would be Filtration.

It is the most important part of the tank. since your main target is guppies, I believe having plain normal holland sand would do. No need for ADA soils. Whatever the tank size maybe, Please have a proper filtration system up as I believe it is the most important part of your tank.

Get a cheapo made in china canister filter, those may just be enough to fit your needs! For a 2feeter, I believe having an extra large HOB filter can work. While for a 3feeter, best go with a canister.

@cikar, with rm 300, what type of scape do you intend to do? I suggest having a nano ( 1ft~1.5ft maybe? ) to start off. With that, you would have enough money to spend on proper soils, maybe some DIY c02, and HOB filter. A 2feeter is possible too though. biggrin.gif
And your "O"s that you replaced with zeroes are my my eyes @@

brother, eheims would easily cost rm 200~600 hahaha!!! ( Some up to 1.8k! XD) - I'm talking about the canisters.. not HOB biggrin.gif

tongue.gif, just sharing only though, there is a non-eheim canister that I rely on in the market. those are the tetra ex series. they work quite well! ( though not as cheap as MIC brands or as expensive as eheims) MIC ones, try hunting around for JEBO or something. they all work fine if you're under budget! biggrin.gif

Yes dwarf puffers can attack shrimps. biggrin.gif

So the best bet of removing snails is to manually remove them...

Though I hear there are snails that attack snails in the market... or certain type of fishes.. Haven't get to try those myself. so I won't comment further

Snails don't really need another to multiply.. They can multiply by themselves.. that's why they're a huge menace. Othertimes, you see one snail 'riding' on another.. then the rest, as they say is history haha

@ catacombs,

That's why.. if your shrimp tank has no c02.. just leave them be. My shrimp breeding tank is very ugly lol. No c02 no fert tank.. algae everywhere haha.

first, price

second, reliability

third,
since the solenoid is controlled electronically, you can rig it up to a timer (timed according to your Light On period) hence saving up a buttload of c02. On the manual regulator you need to either close it every night(which is a hassle) or have it run 24 hours(without poisoning your fishes though)..
