Scaping wise, quite a good effort for a first timer!

I would do something about the temperature.. and lighting IMO. biggrin.gif

From what I can see.. mosses should do fine with 23w..

Keep it up!

How are you dosing c02 by the way?

I would say the moss cannot tolerate heavy dosing of excel.. I hear it's the same for japonica..

Looking good shortpants..

55w for a 1.5feet is good enough IMHO. - but 5 hours?? I don't think so..
My tanks are all lighted for at least 8 hours.. some run for 10 LOL ( but 10.. u gotta know what you're doing leh..XD)

Also, I agree with playerseeker when he mentioned about looking at other factors other than temperature..

@playerseeker,

That, and also lighting..

- Should be fine- same concept when it comes to refilling our tank with c02.. but I may be wrong.. anyone else care to input?

Well, you did ask for a GLASS c02 ceramic plate diffuser lol.. that's the pricing.. plastic ones may be cheaper...

DIY c02 diffuser? don't tell me it's the ones using bamboo chopsticks or cigarette filter..

Also, the plastic ones.. I see before rm 3.50 lol. (maybe got even lower!)

the bubble 'effect' is not affected by wether it is made by glass or plastic.. it's the ceramic plate on the diffuser.. ( white colour one..)

Just that glass one is fancier lol.

haha didn't know the ista glass diffusers got cheaper..

anyhows,
7~9w is not enough for a full fledges planted tank.. if you intend to keep moss and hardy plants(anubias, java fern) that should be enough though..

If overtime.. you will get a lot more algae hahaha...

you sure you wanna cari pasal with the algae? Okay then haha..

but be it known that plants cannot absorb more than 10~12 hours of light.. anymore than that.. it's just a waste IMHO

not too sure about the 10% salted aquarium part.. but.. how do you dose c02? and that plant is more of a pest plant to most of us.. but very low maintenance lol.

errr.. trough your fish? I don't think that's even slightly enough..

if we were able to dose c02 via fauna.. we won't be buying c02 tanks and DIYing that smelly yeast+sugar hahhaa.. just saying.. Don't feel offended as I meant no offence.

I still suspect is the LACK of c02..

and plants don't get any benefit from that 02 dosing.. maybe the fish would be extra happy though..

But seeing your fish lit.. ropefish of all! I'm guessing your set-up is leaning towards a Fish tank.. No point coughing extra $$ for a c02 set-up unless you're from Penang( and that swanky rm50 deal ahah)

All in all- You need more research lol.

Just stating my mind. No offence meant.

try asking around the international forums.. though it is rare practice for 10% salted tanks and planted tanks to go together.. IMHO... you're better off with a plain fish tank unless you wanna keep replacing the el-cheapo plants lol.( or set-up a kinky planted system haha)
