@ adrian.. Are you telling me that you turn on your light for 24 hours??? Algae is sure to come.. plant's cannot absorb more than 8~10 hours of lighting and nutrients.. it goes to the algae after that... @ tenchi, Sad to hear you have low levels of movtivation and determination.. do let us know if you intend to keep going or give up so fast and.. I agree with playerseeker.. Something is defintiely wrong with your tank shortpants.. how about we STOP adding fishes and let the tank stabilize first eh.. @usermode, determined as ever to not join competitions LOL!! Drew

Same family as goldfish then..
back there Iw as thinking too far.. coz some people in Penang came up to me.. worried that i don't know hokkien saying golden fish... I said goldfish?? He said.. not that cheap one.. LOL!!!
Well, Not too good with goldfish.. But I hear they like stable temperatures and filtration is most important as they poop a lot. LOL

Here's what you should do... throw that plant into a bucket somewhere first..
try to change the water as often as possible(de-chlor first of course..) Some new plants from the LFS contain some chemicals on them.. usually pesticides... So do this to make sure..
best bet is to obtain plants from other hobbyist...
@ tenchi
Hang in there!!!

Also Adrian,
I believe all AquaSoil have the same price be it Amazonia, Amazonia II, Africana or malaya... As Yujin mentioned, rm 88 is retail price(-NORMAL-) .. be grateful as a couple of years before.. retail price was rm 111 for a normal bag of soil!(i think)

It's not plainly about rescaping = maintaining... that's jsut to satisfy your boredom..
To maintain your water parametres.. proper water changes at proper times come to play.. having a nicely sized filter+flowrate is the main backbone... All tanks need to WC IMHO... without it.. how are we gonna get rid of the gunk or continuously piling Nitrate levels ... Of course.. some tanks without a nicely sized filter would end up having high levels of Ammonia and Nitrite as well... All these could lead to fish death.
Before adding livestock.. it is common practice to let your tank cycle.. cycling periods would span from 2 weeks to 3 months!! Once your tank n02,n03,amm. levels are stable.. you can start adding livestock little at a time.. not a sudden huge amount of fish.. that will upset the balance.
Just sharing what I know and what I think is right

@kev sensei. I'm not saying that the fishes would immediately die the very day you set up and put the fishes in... It's just for long terms sake we cycle our tanks for a week or two.. otherwise, the filters wouldn't hold enough bacteria to aid the nitrogen cycle.. even in my fish only tanks.. I let them cycle for 2 weeks at the very least.. BUTT Believe what you will.. It's not my rights to force upon the people my ideals.. just sharing my opinion. Drew

Oh you're saying you have like 2~5 fishes in a 2feet or so?? What I was tryong to say was an entire populace.. like.. 30 fishes maybe? at one go?? apparently the major LFS here in Penang fails to educate new aquarists that idealogy. Seen a 2 feeter with 40 fishes from day 1?? Been there and done that.. Just stating my experience and knowledge only. Hope I didn't make you or any other readers out there Upset. Drew Added on June 30, 2009, 10:30 pmOh I've read that somewhere too. they followed the marine aspects of adding one measly damselfish to a large tank to help boost the cycle period.. If I'm not wrong it's supposed to continue nurturing the filter media bacteria to grow more... Drew This post has been edited by chuppy2: Jun 30 2009, 10:30 PM

You dont need Tripod to do that. Drew Added on July 3, 2009, 11:17 amWhat I'm trying to say .. just view it as if youre looking Point black straight at your tank.. your previous image in angled fron the top.. different Angles show different faces of the Wood/Rock.. What if we say that the rock is nice from your picture angle.. but in reality.. looks bad front the front view.. here's an IDea.. ANGLED toward direct facing... I know that my angled shot is off set to the right.. Let's not view in the angles of it horizontally... I know I'm wrong there.. Just stating it Vertically.. Just my 2 cents.. feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Drew This post has been edited by chuppy2: Jul 3 2009, 11:17 AM
