Was thinking about switching up to the MEGA 128 Lightning plan from my current MEGA plan.

As of right now, my monthly fee for the MEGA plan (40 GB) is RM 80.00, while my current M Pass (10 GB) costs RM 18.00. These are subject to the usual 6% SST.

My non-taxable expense is the "Phone Care : Phone Swap" option, which costs RM 4.00.

So, assuming I don't go overboard, the total amount I usually pay per month is RM 107.88, before rounding-up to RM 107.90. (Going overboard usually means calling toll-free numbers or subscribing to any services that cost extra)

Recently, Celcom's put up an offer in their app for a "free" phone: the Vivo Y16 (4GB RAM, 64GB storage) which apparently retails at RM 599.00.

The catch is that I need to upgrade my plan to the MEGA 128 plan before I can get it, and I need to be on that plan for at least 24 months.

Could someone break down the apparent costs, as well as the possible pros and cons, of that particular upgrade?

Finances are a bit tight for me at the moment, but my current phone is showing its age, and I'm wondering if the phone they're offering is better than my current Vivo Y11.

So, can anyone help me a little bit, please? I really would appreciate the help.

Thanks!

me stop at "MEGA™ 80 40GB Lightning Internet'
not fan of celcom.

digi give more data with less price
Digi Postpaid 60 50GB RM60 per month
Celcom MEGA™ 80 "40GB Lightning Internet" RM80 per month

Finances are a bit tight > change to prepaid
with money you save can buy new phone from sopie offical store. no contract. peace of mind

Hence the reason why I asked if anyone had some figures for me to analyze. It's one thing to say that something is expensive, and another thing entirely to explain WHY that something is so expensive.

@JLA, while I also have a Hotlink prepaid number on standby, I don't always get to renew it fast enough.

But that's beside the point.

You have mentioned some numbers, but what about the extra charges, like SST, for instance? And what about monthly consumption patterns (light vs intense)?

On my current plan, the "unlimited calls" bit doesn't apply to 1300 numbers, which include the ones for banks and other hotlines. Some of my slightly higher bills come from being stuck holding the phone for a long period of time while waiting for the customer service representatives to get back to me.

Hope that clarifies things.

Need cheapest, most reliable postpaid plan. Currently eyeing on Yes5G, Digi, Unifi and Umobile. They all offer plans for RM40.

I don't need much data. I barely use 10GB per month. Just need something reliable that wont give me crap when I need it. Had experience with umobile many years before this, it's kinda crap. Currently on Digi prepaid, and it is hit and miss, but I'm wondering if it's because a prepaid plan.

What is your definition of reliable? If it is about coverage, you best test out which telco has good coverage in your area, because there is no telco in Malaysia which has superior coverage all over the country.

A friend just changed from Celcom Mega 80 with 2 supplemental lines to Digi Postpaid 40.
So far their feebacks are positive. No problem for the last 2 months. Very casual user, hardly use 2-3GB per month.
Further Senior Citizen rm10 rebate per month off the bills.

Reliable as in when I need to use mobile data, the telco does not cap my speed for unknown reason, capped until I cant even send a whatsapp message. Umobile loves to do this in the past. Digi sometimes I encounter this problem.

hi guys .. Need some recommendations of which Telco shud I port in.. Currently using Digi prepaid for my 2nd phone however I need to top up monthly to ensure my line & data is active so that I can make calls and use internet.

Are there other Telco whereby just top up once say 2-3 months but able to keep calls in/out & data active ? Heard Unifi prepaid offers something similar.

There is also yes wireless 5g and Maxis wireless broadband.
Imo 1tb FUP is reasonable for the UHome 5G. If you need to use more just do add on.

Oh yes, I forgot about that. The recommended one is Umobile? which is cheap than the other. The downside only no router provided.

In terms of affordability, Umobile. Furthermore Umobile do not limit the speed like what Yes is doing. If you exceed 1tb quota, just add another RM30 for 1tb, that's a good deal.
However, you need to spend like 1k for good 5g modem.

ok, thanks for your suggestion. 1k is a lot for a modem rclxub.gif
looks like other alternative is Yes.
I'm still thinking either want to stick with my umobile p99 or change to other wireless broadband.

If you use for long term it is a good investment to get your own modem. ISP provided modem usually not so reliable. Go check out the U Home 5G topic. There are recommendation for modem.

Hi all,

I wonder if there is there a place where I compare an overview of all the telco promotions available in the country. The latest one i saw is by SoyaCincau but its back in March 2023.

I am returning to Malaysia from Europe and would like a telco plan bundle with a mobile phone + supplementary line. Would like to know if there is an overview where whats the current offer of each telco.

I think the one by Soyacincau is quite recent and up to date. Not much happening in the telco scene since March 2023 until now.
Base on that article, try to narrow down which plan you think is suitable, then go to the respective telco website to find out if there's any changes.
