QUOTE(ashrfareeq @ Aug 27 2012, 08:09 AM)
For the iphone 4s, my prediction on the usage is like below:

a) Call 600-100 minutes
b) SMS 600/month
c) Internet 1GB/month
*
i assume call should be 60-100 mins, instead of 600mins? or is it really 600mins?

btw u send sms a lot sweat.gif

usually when using smartphone, people will use whatsapp/viber/line so 'traditional' sms will be less.

assuming u still send that amount of sms/month:

1. port to idigi 88. its rm60/month with 200mins & 200sms & 1gb.
if u send another 400sms, it will cost u rm40 so the total will be rm100/month.
but must buy new ip4s with digi and contract is 24 months (u can sell the ip4s back?)

2. port to umobile postpaid 28. its rm28/month with 200sms (to non-umobile) & 1gb.
if u send another 400sms, it will cost u rm48, 100mins will cost u rm20, so total will be rm96/month.
but u didnt tell ur location, so go check umobile coverage 1st.

3. (not sure if can work or not) stay with xpax, subscribe to the same rm25/month then use it on ip4s.
if this is succeed, do let us all here know notworthy.gif

want to ask, which telco and plan is suitable for me? previously using digi prepaid then suddenly they change my plan to digi easy prepaid causing me not able to transfer credit anymore vmad.gif so i was planing to jump ship to other telco and i was quite fed up with always having to top-up credit

- seldom make call or sms nowadays, mostly is people find me
- no 3G usage since my phone dont have 3G, but soon will change to smartphone
- need good coverage in selangor and KL area

so i was planning to get a cheap postpaid plan without data then after i changed phone only upgrade my plan to the one with data plan, any recommendation? hmm.gif

maxis should be okay right? hmm.gif
*
cheap postpaid plan without data so far is maxis talkmore 48 thumbup.gif

err ur previous post stated "coverage in selangor and KL area" only? laugh.gif

btw maxis 48 good if u make call & send sms a lot.
since u said u didnt do that much, so just go for maxis value first, only rm30/month ~

its not hidden charge. already stated at the website "Subsequent usage for all Monthly Passes will be charged at RM0.30/MB" just people lazy to read laugh.gif

while for value plus internet, "continue surfing at only 30 sen/MB."

i thought that one is like if you want to continue to use it you have to top up that certain amount to increase quota

if you dont want then you will have very very very slow speed? hmm.gif
*

here:
QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Aug 30 2012, 12:45 PM)
Those are other telco. Maxis do not capped your speed. To increase quota if you plan to use more

Example

Take plan

100mb only rm18

If u use 0.30 per mb it's rm 30 for 100mb
*
but wait, a-la-carte 30sen/mb is only applicable if u did have monthly mobile internet plan. if not, its 10sen/kb (all telco is same, maxis max charge rm250/month, some telco have max charge per day instead of per month).

so 100mb without monthly plan will cost u rm100~ shocking.gif

Added on August 30, 2012, 10:49 pmfor maxis, other than 30sen/mb after quota, u can also subscribe additional volume pass.

example 1st subscribe to 3gb rm68/month.
then 1 week before end of bill cycle u already finished quota 3gb.
but u still want to surf/download a lot, example 900mb.
so u can purchase another 1gb rm48 so total will be rm68 + rm48 = rm116 only, instead of paying rm250 (max charge for additional use) sweat.gif

this deal is postpaid right?

should i take this deal or buy phone from outside and take umobile prepaid?
*
yes its for postpaid.

seems u said u want to take umobile prepaid, means u just want to pay rm28/month.

now its depends on ur usage on call & sms.

QUOTE(erry- @ Aug 19 2012, 01:51 AM)
prepaid, free 100mins call & 30sms.

while postpaid, free 300 sms (100 umobile + 200 others) .

so if just want to use the simcard for data (dual-sim, usb modem, mifi modem), or for data + sms only, postpaid is better notworthy.gif

coz for prepaid, if add another 170sms to others (after free 30), it will cost u additional rm13.60 ~
*
on postpaid plan, 100mins will cost u additional rm20.

comparison of same amount of call and sms on umobile 28:
prepaid cost u rm41.60 with 500mb data.
postpaid cost u rm48 with 1gb data.
for me, extra rm6.40 for another 500mb is not bad if u really use more than 500mb/month.

but, if u just send 30sms/month, go for prepaid. if send 200sms/month, go for postpaid.

QUOTE(Max Soh @ Sep 9 2012, 07:22 PM)
I'm thinking of getting an android phone below RM500 and a new telco plan, currently using digi postpaid DG30 (obsolete plan).
First of all, can I port my digi postpaid number to U-mobile prepaid or postpaid? Because I don't want to change my number.

I'm a light user. I was thinking of getting U-mobile U28 postpaid plan + LG Optimus L3 package (http://www.u.com.my/phone-deals/lg-optimus-l3), but there's no free voice calls in the bundle.
From what I've read, every voice call I make will be charge on top of that RM28 monthly bill.
Eg: If I'm on U28 postpaid and I make 50mins of voice call to other telco (20sen/min), I will be charged RM28 + RM10 for that month.
If this is true, I better go for the prepaid plan then.

How's digi prepaid plans compared to U-mobile plan?
*
yes u can port so ur number wont changed, just the network.

yes u28 postpaid call is charged pay-as-you-use on top of rm28.
yes 50mins call is rm10 for off-net.

yes u28 prepaid is better than postpaid if u looking for free call bundle.
and u said u a light user so 500mb data should be ok with u.

Hi sifus, biggrin.gif i need recommendation... I'm currently using prepaid Digi super sms tongue.gif a very old plan and i have a plan to upgrade.
cause the internet is sucking up the $$$ like water.
I'm think i'm gonna stick to digi cause most of my friend is using digi too and sabah have better coverage tongue.gif

Is there any plan you can recommend? I don't know much about postpaid. I already have a phone. But mayb my mom can buy the phone too.
I used around RM30? I usually sms and doesn't do that much voice call.
Anyway... I don't see much option on the internet for postpaid and sms seems a bit expensive with the internet fees added-on. Any Advice?

Does other telco offer a better solution?
*
digi postpaid, with or without internet plan, the sms is 10sen.

if u want to continue with ur old super sms plan, just subscribe to digi mobile internet 300mb (rm30/month) or 750mb (rm48/month).

refer here - http://www.digi.com.my/prepaid/3ginternet.do

or, take idigi plan.
rm60/month with free 1gb, 200 mins talktime and 200 sms.
but, must buy iphone 4s and contract is 24 months.

refer here - http://www.digi.com.my/postpaid/plan_iDiGi.do

if u ok with 2g network, then go for umobile postpaid u28.
rm28/month, free 1gb and 200sms.
but umobile dont have 3g coverage in sabah sweat.gif

if refer to the FAQ:

Q17 I have exceeded my usage quota of 300MB. Are there any charges for additional usage?
A17 No. There will be no additional charges. However, your speed will be reduced upon exceeding 300MB.

I want to buy a new hp for my fiance. currently she's using maxis hotlink, but i'm planning to port her number to either Digi or U Mobile, to take advantage of their SGS3 bundle. she live in KL, so most of the time she'll be using her phone in KL. in terms of coverage (3G availability) and stability, which one is better? the cost for both plan that I'm looking for doesn't differ that much, that's why I'm looking the one with more stable 3G connection. Thanks
*
if in KL only, then can choose UM.

or if u dont mind pay rm148/month, go for digi coz with that plan SGS3 only rm699 (digi promotion now) ~

previously maxis also offer rm699 with min plan of rm98/month notworthy.gif

for bundle plan (call+sms+data), its better u take iphone plan from any telco.
but u must buy iphone4s together with the plan and contract is 12/24 months.
the simcard can use with ur own smartphone and sell the iphone back.
imho, better wait for ip5 coz its maybe hard to sell back ip4s now laugh.gif

if for a-la-carte plan (talk + data), no, digi is not the cheapest sweat.gif

QUOTE(zr125 @ Sep 22 2012, 11:55 AM)
then which telcos is the cheapest?

yes, supp also need data. budget for both maybe around <150 if possible (commitment + maybe extra usage)

the cheaper, the better. haha. average usage monthly maybe 300sms + 60min not included sms/call between supp line (doesnt count since its free, right?)
*
cheapest postpaid data plan is umobile u28.
rm28/month with 1gb data and free 200 sms to other network (plus 100 sms within the network).
this plan is only suite if u dont make lot of call out.
but then, umobile supp line dont come with data plan. good for single user only sweat.gif

for supp line with data:

celcom principal (new plan) is rm40. while supp is rm15. data is as low as rm28 for 300mb.
no extra charge after finish quota.
total min/month = 40+28+15+28 = rm111.

maxis can share talktime with supp line (only for principal basic plan 30/50/80/150/250/500).
principal value first is rm30 and supp also rm30 (share that rm60).
data is as low as rm18 for 100mb AND extra charge after finish quota.
total min/month = 30+18+30+18 = rm96.

or, maxis value plus internet plan 80 + value plus internet supp 30, total min/month = rm110.
principal got 500mb while supp is 250mb AND extra charge after finish quota.

digi principal is smart plan 48 (1gb) + supp line smart family 28 (300mb) so total min/month = rm76.
but this fee only for data. other usage (call/sms/mms) is PAYU.

assuming ur example usage of 300sms + 60 mins for principal,
celcom need to pay extra rm14.
maxis is still within the rm60 monthly commitment.
digi need to pay extra rm39.

in the end (assuming supp didnt use more than allocated call/sms freebis and maxis not exceeding quota):
celcom rm125.
maxis value first rm96.
maxis value plus internet rm110.
digi rm115.

so u see there, digi is not the cheapest sweat.gif

I am I m currently subscribed to maxis value plus 50. My last bill is RM  20++. Mainly used for call while sms is less than RM2. Any plan that suits me. Too many plans in the market, got confused.
*
rm20++ but u still need to pay rm50 right?

try change to maxis talkmore28 - http://www.maxis.com.my/talk28/main.asp
do note u should choose talkmore, not textmore.
rm28/month with free 200mins & 100sms to all network.
so now u can reduced monthly commitment fee to 28 instead of 50 notworthy.gif

any suggested cheap data plan (around 1-3 gb)? both postpaid or prepaid, coz i only need it when im not at home and using wifi at home.

and is there any prepaid plan, in which the data quota will be forwarded (as in, carry-forward the remaining balance) after expiry if it is not finished during the active period.

suggestions and advice are most welcomed smile.gif
*
1. for postpaid, refer my previous reply to zr125 above.

for prepaid, its umobile. rm28/month with free 500mb + 100sms & 30mins to all network.

2. digi prepaid smart plan - http://www.digi.com.my/prepaid/plan_prepaid_smartplan.do

I heard my bro said that the iphone package is actually very good bcoz it contains free calls and sms which make it more worth, is that true?

what is the best package for digi now? (also in terms of phone)
*
yes for all-in-1 plan, iphone plan is the best, BUT u must buy iphone from telco AND have contract.

for digi, u need to pay about normal rrp of the iphone, and the subsidies will be credited in ur phone bill later. contract is 24 months.

more info at http://www.digi.com.my/postpaid/plan_iDiGi.do
idigi138 is rm138/month but ur bill will just be rm93/month (rebate rm45/month for 24months)
let say u buy ip4s 32gb from digi, price is rm2390.
after 24 months, the ip4s price will be rm1310 only [rm2390 - (rm45x24)].

while for maxis/celcom, u pay discounted price of the iphone and no subsidy on bill.
just now digi also now offering this for 138 plan, more info at http://www.digi.com.my/whatshot_v3/iphoneSALE/landing.do
ip4s is rm799 only but ur monthly is rm138 (not rm93).

so u choose, cheap iphone or cheap monthly commitment ~ up2u notworthy.gif

I plan to port to umobile prepaid rm28 from maxis postpaid rm50 for the data plan. But i do make
a) phone calls of about 250-350 minutes a month, (mostly to non-umobile number)
b) sms of about 80 (maxis) and 80 (non-maxis), (people who do not use whatsapp)

What is the best plan? I'm worried about the calls charges if i port to umobile prepaid rm28

And is there cheaper rate for friends & family on umobile? Like extra 10 for maxis

Thanks
*
for ur call & sms usage, should stay with maxis but change to talkmore48 plan. thats the best plan for u.
but for data, maxis is a little bit expensive and have extra charge after quota sweat.gif

since u want data, umobile28 seems suite u.

b4 u port to umobile, check their coverage at ur place 1st.

umobile28 prepaid free 100mins & 30sms. call charges is 9sen for 30seconds (take it as 18sen/min).

ur usage:
extra 150-250 mins can total up to rm45.
extra 130sms is rm10.40
in the end ur prepaid cost u 28+45+10.40 = about rm83/month.

If all telcos plans are considered (both prepaid & postpaid), which plan is the best for
a) phone calls of about 250-350 minutes per month
b) sms of about 150-170 per month
c) 1 gb data plan per month
*
seems that umobile28 prepaid the best for u. but data only 500mb, not 1gb.

lets look at the options for 1gb:

if u wont exceed that 1gb, then just stay with maxis and change to talkmore48.
talkmore48 comes with free 400 mins & 200 sms to all network (its in ur usage range).
maxis talkmore48 rm48 + 1gb data rm48 = rm96.

umobile postpaid u28: 350 mins is rm70 & 170 sms is free (included in bundle) so total will be rm28 + rm70 = rm98.
