of course price giving high priority when choosing tyre...
so choosing michelin, yokohama etc not for budget man like me...
4 me my Continental CCT 1 are the best tyre i have been use...
its better than nct5 and turanza..
already 2 1/2 years now and still give good performance wet or dry (pls... for normal user... )  rclxms.gif

for falken ze912... never use before but feel want to try.... heard many good comment..
people said falken thread wear fast and so on continental cct1 (i already use 2 1/2 years.. thread around 40~50% i guess).. How fast this falken thread wear out?????
if normal user i think it can hold around 2 ~ 3 years (acceptable as > 3 years tyre from manufacturing date will be harden and performance will drop)..  smile.gif

actually quite interested with michelin 2, not pp2 but xm1... but budget too tight...   sweat.gif

Added on May 29, 2009, 1:52 am

many use it as they dont know much about tyre technology... what they know only brand..
just ask them about TOYO tyre... many of my old2 friend thought it cheapo tyre without see the price tag..
same with sime tyre... ask people everywhere... i believe same answer given... malaysia punye.. tayar chokia..  tongue.gif
*
Michelin is a bit expensive lo... but XM1 or Primacy LC is still affordable for me la...
what is your size??? how much is your budget...

Falken 912 is wearing fast on the Shoulder of the thread... not overall... tat is the feedback from AW forummers...
for 2~3 years i think you mean really normal drive and only drive not more than 20k per year...
i think XM1 can only last 2 years if not mistaken la... my parents driving style...
the more grip on the tire then tire wear will be faster of course... normal driving is good on XM1... very comfort...
but after i drive hard side wall Michelin PP2 then recently changed to Hankook V12 which is softer i feel that the handling not that good on soft tire tongue.gif
but compromise la... i prefer to have a bit of comfort like Hankook V12 but not Falken 912 which is softer than it...
Falken 912 have 60 series but both Hankook V12 and Michelin PP2 have limited... 55 series and below...
Michelin XM1 have until 70 series and Primacy LC have up to 65 series also if not mistaken...
you can try out Yokohama A drive and also C drive also... comfort tire but grip well la...
my gf car have Yokohama A drive in front and Michelin XM1 at the back... only change to at 1 time... her parents car don question much...
but handling quite well for both... Michelin XM1 i use it since i get my license... smile.gif
as my dad is Michelin man... he like the comfort he got from it... so i broke the chain by changing to Hankook... 3 cars on Michelin...

I am decent driver  brows.gif

just wondering normally tyre will only botak with how many KMs?

last for around 2 years / 60,000 km?
*
QUOTE(kanethesun @ May 30 2009, 10:49 PM)
rotation .. hmm.gif
how long shall it be rotate? once a year? mileage?
*
Lets say you rotate around 10k km... and you are a very decent driver like my gf and my mum... it will last around 40k km or even more...
my gf family's Iswara did not change tire for 4 years... tongue.gif then i ask her to change after 1 yr 'pak to' with her...
for me and my dad around 30k only...

QUOTE(amduser @ May 30 2009, 02:55 PM)
depends on what tyres and what kind of road condition, if hot weather sure gone faster.

last time my NCT5 only last me about 3 years@30,000km, that time put at hometown seldom drive, but still botak quite fast for the front, maybe because of didnt do rotation
*
hehe... my Vios Stock NCT5 can last for 2 years around 40k my parents usage i seldom drive then...
now the car at 78k... just changed 3rd set of tire Hankook V12...
2nd set Michelin PP2... around 28k km... coz always travel in distance... KL-PG and KL-SG...

QUOTE(wch5274 @ May 31 2009, 03:03 AM)

QUOTE(kanethesun @ May 30 2009, 08:46 AM)
any familiar with Yokohama A.Drive?
recommend by forummer, is it good for Avanza?
*
er... ok la... A drive 13" on Iswara... still working well on my gf car... smile.gif
Avanza... 14" or 15"??? you can try out a few tire as below...
Yokohama A Drive(comfort) or C Drive(slightly better than A drive)
Michelin Energy XM1(Comfort) or Primacy LC (New model)
Continental CPC 2

Try Hankook evo V12... currently it is the hottest tire around...
good amount of grip comparable with Michelin PP2...
it is a new thread so wear and tear life still unknown...
i just changed to this tire 3 weeks ago... RM185/pc at Ban Hooi Klang...

you can try out Michelin Pilot which is around RM50 more expensive...
or you can try out Falken 912 which is the similar price with Hankook...

refer to my previous post for Hankook V12 vs Michelin PP2 driving experience...

Go to this link for Opel test drive with Hankook V12...

BTW attached below is my report on V12 at AW forum after i went to Genting last Sunday...

QUOTE

well guys... i made a trip up to Genting... try a few steep corners wit the V12... around 50~70km/h kua...
the tire still grip well during dry and wet also... not squeaking sound or any from the tire at all... even though kena lines also no problem (at this moment la...)
maybe still new... around 900km already... over all ride comfort sure better than PP2...  thumbup.gif

V12 vs PP2...
V12 more quiet when it go over the humps and also the strip lines b4 it...
V12 absorbs all the small bumps without sounds...
V12 grips well even i drive on the white lines... u know la... Genting corner if you want to try to hard corner stick to the inner side of the corner...
V12 wet gripping at this moment i feel is really good... yesterday when i start to come down heavy rain...
but try to warm up a bit by corner into the first few downhill slope it grips well...
then try 2~3 hard cornering around 60km/h b4 my gf give me that look... u know la...
BTW i press my brake around 30mb4 the corner it still grip well... no ABS activated...

AD 07 duno haven try that yet...

this 2 tires is expensive... just like Michelin PP2...
Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 = RM255+-
Bridgestone Potenza RM295+-

from my experience with PP2... best Aquaplaning among all the tires...
but the hard side wall is the one that you have to bear with... and the noise a bit hard also, not that loud...
AD07 i think similar with PP2 but performance wise no comment haven tried that and it is Outdated... ppl is waiting for AD08 la...
Bridgestone did not used b4 also... as my dad prefer to stick with Michelin as it serve us well...

this is the list i copy from AW forum...

looks like if you want HP tires you can chosse Michelin PP2, Yokohama AD07, Bridgestone Potenza RE001, Hankook V12 & Falken 912...
among them all have positive feedbacks from AW forummers but Yokohama AD07 outdated all of them waiting for AD08...
Bridgestone RE001 not much ppl is mentioning them as Hankook V12 and Falken 912 can be better and the price is much lower...
both of the tire as you see not more than RM200... which is at least RM30 cheaper than AD 07, PP2 and RE001...

it is your choice which to choose...

BTW you have to ask yourself... Comfort a bit with handling... or you don mind the tire is abit on hard side with good handling...

QUOTE(vreis @ Jun 4 2009, 05:21 PM)
just wants some opinion. for 195/55 from the list my options is:
1) Bridgestone ER30 turanza- RM175
2) Falken ZIEX-912 - RM185
3) Yokohama A drive- RM 180
4) Yokohama C drive-RM 190

As my budget is around RM180 & the priority is comfort + less noise while a bit of handling won't hurt  tongue.gif
So whats u guys opinion? Which is the best offering?

BTW is it weird to put in 205/60 in 15inch ride? wats the drawback?
*
what is your Ori Size... what is you car model???

for me la... Falken 912 fits you well... but i duno about Hankook V12 also... for a few ppl tis tire is more towards comfort...
but the tire noise is there but not too loud...
as bro wch5274 said... you can try out continental comfort contact 1 also but not most of the Conti tire is Made in Malaysia...

if you willing to go to Klang to change RM180 you can change Falken, Hankook and also Yokohama...
never use bridgestone b4...
but Falken 912 and Hankook V12 had a lot of positive feedback by AW forumers whom need comfort on those size... smile.gif

I change my Hankook v12 3 weeks ago at Ban Hooi Klang... RM183@ with valve, balancing and nitrogen also...
except alignment RM12 only front wheel, coz my car Vios rear wheel fix one...
if you take out Nitrogen i believe you can get RM175 or RM180 only...

QUOTE(vreis @ Jun 5 2009, 12:16 PM)
thanks for the feed back. But I'm looking to  change 4 pcs so will it be better in term of safety compare to your case? As I know different tyres in the same care is not that good.
Am looking to change 4 pcs at once. there'll be a surcharge of abt 3% if not mistaken.
My ride is Vios & been using replica rims 15 inch for few yrs. I'm reluctant to try Conti cos a fren had a very bad experience using it. Currently its on sime tyres 195/50 & its driving me nuts. Well its another story why i chose that particular tyres.
Seems falken is getting some positive feedback. But still would like to know about Turanza & Yokohama C drive ...if any of you guys had any experience on it.
*
ok... i'm driving 1 also... mine '05 Vios 1.5G... using PP2 previously as it gives me good handling and also good Hydroplaning...
Iunderstand your condition as i used 1 set of NCT5 on the Vios (stock) then My SEG when i bought the city rim together... they are... sweat.gif
i just changed to Hankook V12 just 3 weeks ago... it gives my good balance of dry and wet traction as well as comfort...
y i change from PP2 to V12 is a big question... coz Michelin vs Hankook... haha...
i take the review from numbers of AW forummer into count... i realise the V12 not bad at all...
BTW you can just change to 195/55 R15 which is more suitable... smile.gif from my point of view la...

my comparison of Hankook V12 with Michelin PP2 please refer to the previous post...
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1005735/+300#

you should understand why i make this decision after that... smile.gif

QUOTE(amduser @ Jun 5 2009, 01:12 PM)
i saw alot sime tyres, goodyear and silverstone, even michelin also more than falken, falken are good and affordable tires, but somehow is not that famous in malaysia hmm.gif

i saw tons of ST115 in 1U that car service center at the basement car park there, just now i go falkentire.com, it only available from 16" onward, and i see many good reviews from the link below, silent and comfort while not sacrificing performance...

http://www.1010tires.com/tirereviews/Falke...re_reviews.html

seems like a good tires, and that day i walk pass a residential area nearby my house, i see a small car, i think is KIA sutera, using dont know 13" or 14" rims with falken azenis tires, i assume it is ST115, still new, super low profile tires, the tires so thin until almost cant see the sidewall shakehead.gif
lol....sime tires, everyone should get rid of those made in malaysia tires, i know malaysia famous in producing rubbers, but that's a long time ago.
*
haha... well... you know lo... Falken not really famous ma... Hankook also wat...
after i read thru all the material i realise that Hankook and also Falken not that bad at all... which a lot ppl do not use internet to search this info...
If you really read thru the V12 test by Opel which AW forummer gave me the link then you know...
I got a surprise then Michelin lose out to GY and Hankook which is Rank no 1 and 2 in the test...

my fren have a Prada installed on his Myvi... 195/50 R15... quite soft i think coz he say not really bumpy...
PP2 is hard sidewall la... so cannot compare i think... even 185/55 R15 or 195/55 R15 also...
can feel small notch on the road...

@jamest, i think is 16" not sure though... confirm it by looking at the tires la...

haha A drive don have inside outside... you can flip at ever you want if not mistaken...

if you want lower profile tires you can try out Hankook Evo V12... a lot of positive feedbacks...
then if you want higher profile... Yokohama C Drive, Michelin XM1 or more premium Primacy LC, Dunlop and also Bridgestone also have...

hmmm you can give Hankook V12 a try...
sure a lot of them tell you something else...
but i read quite a numbers of feedback at AW forum... all of them giving positive feedback...
change to 195/55 R15 Hankook V12... it give you comfort + handling also...
although its handling cannot compare with Michelin PP2 but in terms of comfort V12 beats PP2...
it is quite economical tire also...

I used PP2 2 sets before this Hankook V12...
PP2 more towards handling but a lil bumpy... while V12 give you a better all rounder for normal driving...

How about Michelin MX1 or Primacy LC? i mean in terms of price & drivability + comfort?
*
Michelin XM1 is entry level... for better choice you better use Primacy LC...
further more i remember i haven seen XM1 in the size... Primacy LC will cost around RM210 kua...
i think Hankook V12 is a good all rounder lo... haven try out Primacy LC b4 coz changed to V12 after the Michelin PP2...

Hi all,

Ask a shop behind my office for Yokohama A Drive price @ RM185 / pcs
at Jalan Kuchai Lama,
is the price ok?
going to drive my car for it in evenin later.

What else will they charge a normally? for all tyres replacement.

Balancing / Alignment?
*
er... what is your size??? maybe you have better choice... * sorry remember already...
you can try out Michelin XM1 and also C drive also... smile.gif
if not mistaken that 2 is a lil more expensive...

normally if you change 4 tires try to ask them to give you balancing and also alignment FOC...
likely they will ask you got Chamber... arond RM35~RM50 i think... mostly they charge around there...
