yes V12 is softer... then than PP2.. Falken 912 is softest of the 3...
but cornerning with waja...hmmm... the suspension hard or comfort...
if confort i think you can just use PP2..
if stock hard already try ourt V12... 912's shoulder wear off faster than expected...

QUOTE(zopu @ May 3 2009, 11:58 PM)
But most people commented Michelin tyres not suitable drive in M'sia road due to the design problem, especially at raining day, the water flow not fast enough. No doubt its smoothness and quiet, but get botak also fast... then u have to change another set liao... haha.. biggrin.gif
*
you are correct...
you may find out that michelin wears a lil faster... but in terms of comfort it never lose to others...
Primacy haven try b4... but my old SEG last time wears Michelin 175/70 R13 for er... 13 yrs... no problem...

as amduser said.. avoid swimming pools... haha...
I'm using Michelin PP2 185/55 R15 on Vios... yesterday from Ipoh to Penang around 7:45 onwards...
all the way raining from KK to the Juru... and i'm driving average 120~140km/h all the way...
no problem... BTW my front tyre around 50% and back tyre 2mm more the safety mark...
i go thru some small water pool... still ok...

Sorry, you may say that i'm a Pro Michelin user here... but it serve me well since i started my driving till now...
tried NCT5 as it is Vios stock.. it sucks... still have 30% over and i used it once on my SEG when i change to 15" left around 30% also...
quickly change it as you can feel very slippery when raining... further more last time i work in Penang...
everyday have to go thru Paya Terubong to Relau road... which is very dangerous...
as few times i press brake harder... my Vios ABS activated... and my SEG front tire locked...
luckily nothing happen...

now i'm taking advice from forum... another good tire is Hankook V12... which i am going to try out next month...

@Zopu...
I'm not the user... but i heard from AW forummers... they comment that the side thread very easy to wear off...
but it is the softest from compare to V12 and PP2... PP2 is the hardest...
Cheers...

Michelin XM1 have your size... others not quite sure...
look at the list... My dad Avanza just change to XM1 195/60 R15
performing as expected...
if you are not into Hard cornering the Falken 912 or Michelin XM1 is ok...
i have one case b4... i crash my car... sport rim spoiled...
but the tire still can use back... Michelin XM1...
so 1 year without sport rim... sad.gif
Xm1 soft... comfort and also not noisy... wet performance... good...
you can ask for Michelin Primacy also... duno have or not la...

what is your budget... ???

haha... ppl in malaysia u know la...
any way... my dad use Michelin all the way... even his spare car Toyota KE-70...
my mum scold him wat for use Michelin energy for that car... seldom drive 1 week may be 3 times...
except his Volkswagon 60's is using cheap tyres... as that one 1 week only use 1 time...

but i'm breaking the tradition... trying hankook V12 on my vios next month or so... smile.gif

BTW i think XM1 tires very cheap now... last time when i started to drive 13" XM1 still cost around 160 woh (in Ipoh)...
now only 130 only wat... that day i change on the Avanza in Klang XM1 195/60 R15 only RM200 not bad...
185/55 R15 PP2 for smaller car like Vios and City also cost around there in Klang...
V12 195/55 R15 cheaper as it is only RM175 in Klang... i think that price ok...
a lot better than NCT5... around the V12 price but safety... sweat.gif

well said... a lot of ppl just want to look nice...
but they did not know they have to pay more for the tire until their tire change...
example 17 inch tire will cost more than 400 if you want better grade... of course they will say no need...
coz who will pay for a RM1600 tire change on a wira... ya there is some ppl will do so...
do mostly they will change to lower grade or cheaper tires below RM250...
they will think like no one know/see mah...
once i saw a E class Benz fitted on indo brand (if not mistaken) i was like wah...

u know la... they will go thru everything more than 100km/h gravel, muddy or sandy or tarmac...

Hankook is Korean made but so far no user complain about the tire...
it is more comfortable than PP2 but cornering is not as nice as PP2...

hmmm... y everyone think of changing to 17"... with Vios...

BTW Vtec_lee,
you size is over the 3% rules.... smile.gif
refer to the following chart... 1 is over rules and the other one is ok...

well you can refer to the quote attachment...

QUOTE
Plus Sizing
Plus sizing your wheel & tire combination was designed to enhance vehicle performance and looks by allowing  fitment of larger diameter rims and lower profile tires. The theory is that while making these changes, you keep the overall tire diameter within 3% of the original equipment tires. This is important because larger variances can cause problems with transmission shift points which can decrease fuel mileage. It can also confuse braking system computers which can even lead to brake failure.

Here's the rule of thumb for "plus sizing":

    Plus 1:
    Increase section width by 10mm
Decrease aspect ratio by 10 points
Increase rim diameter by 1 inch

    Plus 2:
    Increase section width by 20mm
Decrease aspect ratio by 20 points
Increase rim diameter by 2 inches.

This is not exact, but it will usually get you in the right ballpark. We always recommend consulting with the people you are purchasing the wheels and tires from to ensure fitment.
for me er... not sure about the availability of the size but you can only put 195/55 R15 & 205/45 R16
this is the most suitable one for you and also available in the market...
the 2 sizes that i give you is suitable for your budget...
remember if you use more lower profile tires the chances of your Rim get spoiled easily...
you also can go for the 205/40 R17 if you want...

you only target RM350/tire and for 17" seldom you can get good tires...
good tires is important... as life is...
tire is like your shoe...
if cheap one very slippery if a lot of water...
shoes that have better grip always a bit expensive....

i search every where and some of the larger website..
it said that it may affect the electronics function as well...
better think twice to change to oversized tires...

what amduser said is the major point... not only that...
some of my frens even complain the rim get crooked easily...
you know la... you have to avoid most of the holes if you wanna thin thin tire...

well i work there b4... travel from Island to Mainland for 1 yr +...
then i was running around the island another 2 yrs... the road like...
huh... dunno how to say... patch here and there...

it you own decision... you can put on 16" or 17"...
but you have to bear with the bumpiness and also avoid all the holes and bumps...
