i believe msot of us know already why iphone in the US is cheaper than in Malaysia.... it is because it is lock by the telco and u have to sign a contract for certain period of time...

Yes, you can buy a laptop for 3k (but thats not what I want now I want a phone), is it worth it to pay 3k for a phone? (even those of us with plans, in the long run we pay as much I guess) Yes, because we want it. Why? Because we want an IPhone, hence its worth 3k, by your logic, companies that make luxurious items will now be bankrupt... why buy Rolex? why buy LV, GUCCI etc etc?

For me, the IPhone is an impressive piece of kit.. I like its slick look (that so far no phone comes close IMO), I like its features , the option to choose the apps you want, including the (as some people put it) the darker side of it.. Simply said I love my gadgets and love em more when they look as slick as the IPhone.

I would advice you to migrate to the US. Electronical items are soo much more cheaper over there as opposed to here. Only thing is eating out over there is damn pricy ... so you will have to bid farewell to your frequent mamak outings. Even in singapore you probably get a better deal (if you are earning in SGD that is). On the local front however, thats the situation.

Dun understand why ppl complain about the price so much..no one is putting a gun to your head and forcing u to buy a iphone....you can get the HTC, got blackberry, got Nokia N97... If its expensive..and u cant afford...why blame maxis? blame yourself for not earning enuff lar


Same with the waiting time...theres thousands of posts here about the waiting time...so its not like breaking hot news ....so why complain? dun want..dun buy...i been waiting 3 weeks, i never had a iphone b4, this is my first apple product..just chill and wait lar

the question is not jz price in Malaysia, if ur ringgit not powerful enof, how u expect to buy thing cheap with lower ringgit, even before including tax.

some people enjoy using jz a plain phone, a nokia 3310 example, while some looking for more....and u can compare among model and decide
some love iphone, some love htc, some want LG Prada....personal preference...
u like it, u can pay for it, go for it....
if u think it overpriced, lodge complaint to the seller then
if the seller say not my fault, i kena tax tat much oso...
then u complaint to gov lo...tats the case

yeah. I got the 3GS 16gb for around sgd$570 (rm1380). Voice plan is sgd$12 and data plan (30GB max/month) is sgd$7 under corporate deal. Was thinking of getting another line for my family since the waiting period for the phone is slightly less than 1 week.

Not anymore for the black market now that M1 and Starhub released their iPhones as well. I manage to purchase one 32Gb 3GS brand new sealed in box set for only SGD1050 ~ RM2570 (Assuming SGD1 = RM2.45) and prices are still dropping in SG. That's about RM400 lower than Maxis' retail price. The only down side is that you'll have to go to SG to claim warranty. If anyone wants a SG set I reccomend waiting for another 1-2 weeks and the price would be even more competitive. I couldn't wait coz my current phone broke.

Anyway, I'm glad to join the iPhone family. Those who complain about the price, actually, I find the price reasonable. Aussie iphones are more expensive after conversion (based on price in apple store) so I have no complains about Maxis pricing. I just not happy at Maxis' monopoly, causing an acute shortage in the market, hence black market prices are so high. I just don't feel right that I have to pay about RM2700 for something that I COULD have bought at RM2490 from a retailer.

There are lots of pple in SG who wants to renew their contract, but they don't want the iPhone, so they sell it off. I think 16gb should be around SGD930-940 now. I don't wanna hang around their forums anymore coz I don't wanna sakit hati when I see the price drop again hehe...
