That information is available on the net if U would only choose to look for it. Anyhow, comparing the US & Australia i3GS the US sets are cheaper but I don't believe you're able to purchase an outright unit without signing onto a plan.

Also, the US units are locked sets as compared to the AU units.

I THINK we are just stupid to fall for this brilliant marketing plan by Apple. in such they are able to create not only a huge demand but also that hype & big hoo haa about the 3GS. if you follow garage sales closely, you will find that the demand is getting bigger & bigger. prices are getting more & more ridiculous.
but what would happen if Apple has enough 3GS to go around the world?

wait & see until after X'mas. now, every kid in the world wants a 3GS for Christmas. my guess is the price will drop by then. so if you can wait...

For maxis, you can get FREE 16GB Iphone 3GS if you want...

a US iphone is TELCO LOCKED, means you can ONLY use it with a specific telco. You can however do a software/sim unlock, but the disadvantages significantly outweighs its benefit, i suggest u read the iphone thread regarding this.

On the other hand, ALL of the Iphones sold by Maxis are FULLY UNLOCKED, means u can use it with ANY telco and without the problems experienced by software/sim unlocked phones, plus you get a local warranty.

Please also note that the US$300 price that u see is with a 2 year contract, so you are bound by their service whether u like it or not or risk paying a hefty penalty if you want to opt out.

With iValue 4, and 2 years contract, you can even get the iPhone 3GS 16GB for free, thats $0 lol.

Its the same in malaysia also la. maxis u pay more also like forcing urself to use more just to maximize the usage... and it aint that nice staring at a small screen for a long time for net surfing especially when u already have a macbook.. maxis payment also in the end u pay more than 4.5k....

The plan by Maxis actually CHEAPER than u buy this thing alone from black market. remember maxis included their services with limited calls/sms/data, I just make some calculation when you buy an iphone alone + prepaid and compare it to the included plan, maxis plan still wins in term of call/data/sms usage
