QUOTE(atih007 @ Aug 10 2011, 02:33 PM) after reading here for some time, i think my rear speaker placement is wrong.. lol..... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/703/p1030348p.jpg/http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/263/p1030351c.jpg/ Added on August 10, 2011, 2:56 pmreally??? i dun have sub now.. do i missed a lot of effect? Yeah your rear speakers are too high and angle is too much to the back. Ideally should be 90-110 deg. See this link: http://www.dolby.com/consumer/setup/speake...ig-5-1-txt.html and http://www.thx.com/consumer/home-entertain...speaker-set-up/Yeah without a sub you're missing out on a lot of the LFE. Get a sub! It'll transform your HT experience.

QUOTE(atih007 @ Aug 11 2011, 06:22 AM) ooooooo.... what if..... later i upgrade to 7.1 av receiver, so the current surround speaker i convert it to back speaker? so no surround speaker until i figure out how to put it (with wife's consent)... hemm.. as for sub, how should i choose one? i don't want to annoy my neighbour but i don't want to miss the sub effect anymore.. If you later change to 7.1 then you can get a new pair of surrounds and convert the current surrounds into back speakers. How to choose sub? Start with setting a budget. Then read some reviews. Then go audition your shortlisted subs.

35k for a 120" screen??!?!! The local rep is making a big fat profit! I saw the UK price list and for 120" it's only £2160. In Europe about 2970 euros: http://www.logicalstore.com/index.php?page...emid=33&lang=en

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Aug 17 2011, 12:17 PM) @ AioliadeKL I see that there's a projector but where is the screen? Won't the Onkyo heat up in the cabinet? The screen is a pulldown version.

QUOTE(klimal @ Aug 20 2011, 02:50 PM) In the midst of projector & screen installation in my living room Not an easy job at all. Now entering 5th hour It's quite an undertaking. I remember it took me a few hours as well. But I didn't do everything one shot. 1. Earlier I had marked out the location on the plaster ceiling where the mount will go. Then I installed the base of the mount first. Maybe 40 mins. 2. Once the screen arrived, first thing is to assemble the screen. 30 mins. 3. Then another day with some help, it is to position and mount the screen on the wall. Maybe 75 mins. 4. Lastly hook up the projector to the mount arms and screw that to the base. Another 30 mins.

QUOTE(klimal @ Aug 21 2011, 10:42 AM) The pro installer initially use a pole for the pj but needed keystone +3 correction. After some discussion, and showing him the Mitsubishi PJ Calculator, we decided to do away with the pole. He also helped to wall mount my Unifi Router and Modem, installed the custom TV bracket at the same time. He was doing all this alone, so I guess that's why it took him so long. Also quite meticulous and careful e.g. used a small box to collect the dust as he drilled, drilled very slowly and explained what he was doing all the time. The installer does sound meticulous. Where did you find him? And how much did he charge for his services? Also, what mount did you use for the pj? I'm surprised the length adjustment is quite limited, with the result that you have to use keystone. This post has been edited by jchong: Aug 21 2011, 08:16 PM

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Aug 21 2011, 08:58 PM) Is there such a thing as a hydraulic lifter for the tv? Ie. when not in use then it can be lowered just like a lift. Yes, but I've not seen them locally. Anyway, ask these guys: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1187371They have a lifter for LCD monitors, see if they have bigger one for TVs.

QUOTE(klimal @ Aug 22 2011, 10:52 AM) My sitting position is actually 10' from the 80" wide screen ( eyeball to screen). According to your formula, I should be sitting as close as 8' from the screen My HM now sits behind the main sofa whenever we use the screen. If I increase the screen size any further, I think she will go upstairs to watch her HK serials. Last night, relatives came and also commented "too close" Your position is about 1.5x screen width, which is still ok. The numbers are just guidelines, which can be adjusted for personal preference. Once you get used to it then no issue. I'm sure eventually your HM will sit back with you on the sofa

QUOTE(zrill @ Sep 6 2011, 10:18 AM) As for the 92", i followed the recomendation from THX which is screen size / 0.84. I might be wrong. Maybe Anfieldude can shed some light.
At first i was also thinking 10 feet is to close but after installing i find it great for the immersive feeling and yet not to near where you get dizzy.
Yeah there is no treatment yet, but seriously looking to add some bass traps. Dont really have knowledge on this aspect. at the moment i do nt face any problem with echo or such. but on the feel of it im not to sure. Maybe one of the sifus are willing to drop by. hehehe. Furthermore at the moment i do not have a subwoofer. All the bass is coming from the front speakers. There are several recommendations for screen size. The THX one results in a closer seating distance compared to others. In the end it comes back to preference (just like how you choose seats in a cinema). Main thing is as long as you're happy. Do seriously consider a subwoofer. It really helps to anchor your sound experience.

QUOTE(chokia @ Sep 21 2011, 01:27 PM) It was RM3799 initially at Harvey Norman, then they dropped to RM1999. I guess you missed the boat http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1880706I think the RM1999 was a very limited offer. Only a handful of people managed to snatch the offer. After that it went back up.

QUOTE(Keng @ Oct 4 2011, 03:56 PM) What I want to know is how high should the screen be installed in relation to the viewer's eye? Is there a rule of thumb for this or its just simply the middle of the screen is the same height as your eye when seated? And is there a rule for tilt angle too? Generally it would be middle of screen to 1/3 bottom of screen is the same height as the seated eye level. Tilt angle? Normally the screen is 90-deg vertical.
