would be hard to diagnose your problem.

but switching between the blackberry and the iPhone, i do acknowledge that the microphone on the iPhone is not as superior.

if i am you, i would still attempt to go to maxis and make a case with them and try to get an exchange.

don't post in the wrong thread. this is restricted to iTunes related questions.

that scenario is not just restricted to the iPhone.

it is a normal characteristic, when you insert the SIM card to a new phone, the provider will send a text message to request for all the necessary network configuration.

yes. very likely.

my advice to you if to register a trial version of mobileme (you can cancel it anytime)

mobileme backs up all your contacts (down to every detail like your contact profile picture and addresses).

once you have synchronised with iTunes, just enable mobileme and everything will be back again

I tried to register jus now. But there's a clause in the terms n conditions saying that fees that you pay prior to the termination is non-refundable. Seems a bit risky. Anyone tried to register for the trial of Mobileme and able to terminate successfully without paying anything?

no problem mate.

all apps are download-able again for free.

what i can suggest is, take a print screen of your apps on the iPhones and subsequently re-download them.

great manoeuvre to actually run through your apps and remove the unnecessary/junk ones

erm, your problem is indeed very sinister.

it may need repair/warranty claim.

i doubt it is a software issue, but no harm restoring it as a new iPhone (via iTunes) as a last resort.

well, i foresee a faulty dock/comm board.

you can always try on another PC/MAC to see if your iPhone is really a goner.

my previous laptop just refuse to recognise my iPhone 3G, but works fine on my MBP.

for example, you must create a malaysian based iTunes account using your malaysian credit card
