What am I thinking is something like The Gathering held annually in Norway for 3-4 days. Few thousand computers get together (record is 5300 PCs) for few days in intense LAN partying and such.

Last census of Klang Valley population is 1.6 -1.8 million at one time, take 30 percent off for PC users. Then skim of top 10 percent of the 30 percent for hardcore users. That's close to 50,000 potential users/ kakis.

It will be quite awesome even to get 1000 PCs gathered in one spot for LAN activities; play or share files for 2-3 days.

Just some thought.

for the sake of our local organizers starting at 1000ppl or less would be a good step tongue.gif as it was, with the 300 at cyberfusion, we still had issues with some idiots torrenting, and some idiots not vaccinating their PCs before coming tongue.gif and the last issue would be the net access and the networking.

a bit of organizing would be very beneficial, in terms of people knowing which games to bring and such (especially since there won't be any regulations stating that you absolutely MUST be playing a game at any given time, since no records are being attempted wink.gif )

if we really want to do something like this, we should probably look at some examples like the ones mentioned, and try to emulate it and see how it works with the local crowd, and then adapt it to suit our needs.

1,000 to start with is overly ambitious.

Start small, work from there.

Try with just 100... or even 80. The networking issues that come up should prove educational.
Location, Lines, Logistics... many issues need to be dealt with. Not forgetting, there is the financial consideration. Funding needs to come from somewhere and sponsors are hard to get these days. Entry tickets may be required. You may even find the cost to exceed simply booking a cybercafe.

i would definitely second the entry tickets, probably using a format like the one they use at i3x or any of the other big ones. and you're right, considering that the local gaming scene is in a stage of infancy with regards to massive lan parties, the less people the better.

for all we know though, this might be exactly what they're planning for CF2010. that would definitely be awesome ne tongue.gif

ah,of course..financial...
a while back,i still heard the current organisers 'fighting' about financial...

while the nation still reeling from economic collapse,we r lucky can enter this lan-party for free...

I just realized something on the papers

''SUASANA di Dewan Utama MMU di mana para peserta Cyberfusion 2009 menghabiskan masa 40 jam 58 minit 43 saat bermain komputer di Cyberjaya, semalam.''

We are reaching 41 hours, lololololol
