Thinking of getting a data doubler and a new SSD 256 GB. SSD main drive and current 500GB HDD becomes back up with data doubler.

Anyone has done this? Where to get data doubler locally?

TQ.

Any SSD installed would increase the speed, say for example opening Safari now half bump already running.

If you are asking specifically about Vertex 4, then I'm not sure any here has used it in their Macbook yet. The only model that can use SSD such as Vertex would either have had changed to SSD or didn't think its worthwhile to do so.

Purchased generic optibay from MierZ http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2137770 but too bad it doesn't fit my MBP 13' Early 2011 due to its protruding side. Anyone know which shop is selling MCE Optibay instead?

hi there.

wondering if anyone know any macbook pro technician?

my macbook pro 2010late cant be swtch on last night.
was working fine before.

when press the power button.
there led is blinking slowly with a beep of every 5 secs.

i googled n thought it is the Ram problem.
and borrowed my friend 2x2gb ddr3 ram to try but still the same.

anyone know any ppl can fix it?
called the apple service centre it said they need to do restoration
with a rm250 for the checking as standard procedure.

i would like to find out if it is the hardware problem first :3
thank.

If you replace your internal hdd, the existing hdd will come out, buy a casing, it will become an external hdd as well.

So might as well get an external hdd for convenience.

I just upgraded my Early 2011 MBP 15" to 8GB RAM. I find 4GB RAM inadequate for nearly everything. It's even better now when I switch to Bootcamp Windows 7 to play my Steam games.

Should I upgrade to 16GB now? Just for the heck of it? I'm planning on selling my MBP soon and replacing it with an iMac 27" instead. (bought a MacBook Pro for 'mobility' but I never took it outside the room in the 1+ years I am in college). Thus the 16GB will be the selling point.

Right now Amazon is selling the Corsair 16GB DDR3 (2x8GB) for MBP's for only USD79.99. Should I go for it?

+ extra question,

is it possible to upgrade the HDD to SSD in a 15" MBP?

What I read in the review Corsair is not a good product.

Greetings lowyat members,

Pardon my impoliteness by asking a question at my first post smile.gif But I would appreciate any suggestion that you guys may have,

I am using a 13' Late MacBook Pro 2011, with a 2.4Ghz i5 core, 4Gb RAM.

The question im having is about upgrading my RAM to 16Gb (either 1600MHz or 1333Mhz)

Currently my RAM type & speed is DDR3 & 1333Mhz.

So the question is,

Would upgrading to 16Gb 16000Mhz rather than 16Gb 1333Mhz RAM be a decent thing to do? As in, how much difference would 16000Mhz or 1333Mhz make??

I have been reading here, that 16000Mhz apperantly works with late 2011 i5 core....

And if this post hasn't bore you already... another thing that i would like to know before buying RAM for my mac,
- how would i know what latency of RAM to get?
- how would i know what voltage of RAM should I get?

and most importantly....where can buy ~~

Note - I will be using the computer with parallels and doing a lot of biology analysis (so i need a big ram)

Thanks in advance, any help pointing to more detail would be great! smile.gif
