Hey guys, is there any recommended and working brand of 8GB RAM for MBP 13' early 2011? I noticed that it used 5GB of Swap file when I opening up VM Fusion. So I planned to upgrade from the default 4GB to 8GB.

I bought 2 pieces of KVR today. Too bad I couldn't freaking unscrew the bottom part even with 1.4mm precision screwdriver. Guess I'll be purchasing a set of 31-in-1 kind of screw thingy tomorrow. Damn.

Yep I mean MBP. Just bought a 30-in-1 screwdriver kit from Digital Mall.

Yep it does. Thanks for the suggestion else I will just be going with 1.3mm flat head.
Anyway installing the RAM is pretty easy. Finished running 2 pass with memtest and everything shows OK. I think this must be my best RAM purchase. Almost on the edge of purchasing those Apple certified RAM which cost twice as much.

QUOTE(olivur @ Oct 12 2011, 08:14 PM) privateg, could i get the model of the kvr's you got, please? i saw a pair of kvr1333d3s9/4g but my friend strongly adviced against it for some reason. x.x; Yep mine was using KVR1333D3S9/4G as well. Memtest shows no problem at all as I mentioned before. My initial impression about it was not so great either as many foreigners on macrumors.com recommend Crucial. Nevertheless I still opt for KVR as it's the best bang for money Apple certified RAM is just too expensive for the same performance as KVR.

Run it for 2 pass as recommended to further test the stability of your system after upgrading the RAM. For me that's a peace of mind to know that the passes run without any problem.

Perhaps you have a bunch of login items? Try to close unnecessary ones. In fact I hardly reboot my Mac unless needed to. But one thing I noticed is the RAM usage will keep on increasing over days.

Purchased generic optibay from MierZ http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2137770 but too bad it doesn't fit my MBP 13' Early 2011 due to its protruding side. Anyone know which shop is selling MCE Optibay instead?
