Do a Repair Permission and check if your Date & Time is correct. Make sure you using the compatible version of iWork.

Your HDD failed or the file system fail. Boot into your Software disc #1 and run Disk Utility to check.

By saying dent I presume yours is the unibody model. There's no way to repair dent. Once on it, it will stay on. This is metal with fine finishing. Any further attempt to "un-dent" it by bending will only cause more deformation. The only way is to replace the case.

I have a macbook pro 13 inch, and was wondering if upgrading the hard disk will void the apple warranty. If it doesn't void the warranty, then is it better to do it a a mac store, or can we just go to any of the shops in lowyat and ask for an upgrade?

Is it advisable to use a faster 7200 rpm disk? The apple store only allowed configuration using 5400 rpm disk or solid state drives.

By officially, end user are not allow to open the MacBook Pro. All parts should be done by certified Apple Technician. But there're many ppl who have DIY the HDD swap. So long you keep the original HDD it should be fine. Should you need to send to 3rd party, make sure they are reliable.

I've done many 7200RPM HDD upgrade for clients. They are all happy with the upgrade.

It seems like your MBP is trying to recover from a deep sleep. I think there are some issue with your filesystem.

Here's something you can try:
- Put in the Software Disc 1 came with your MBP or the retail OSX DVD. Restart by holding "C" with the disc inside. Wait for loading complete. Select the language. Then go to the top menu select Utilities -> Disk Utility. Select your HDD then "Repair Permission".

- Follow the instruction for your model:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411

if all those still doesn't fix. You need another mac to do a repair.

That could be many reason. Lack of maintenance is the easiest cause.
Just keep the habit to run Repair Permission once a while. Especially after software update / install.

If your OSX booting fine just go to Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility. There's no need to use the DVD.

Hi, just when I thought it's solved (I use the CD installation disk and select disk utility and then repair disk permission,
then restart the first time and everything seems to be normal, until I restart yet again, and the problem is still there.
I really don't wish to insert my installation disc everytime I restart. Anyone are able to help here? sad.gif

Have you try SMC reset?
You might have to erase your "sleepimage" file.

Admin password only you know it. What you normally type in when install OSX update/ software? If it is blank just hit enter will do.
