On the Garmin XT usage, does it in anyway incur cost to the telco provider?

What needs to be done to avoid such?

i guess i know the reason. for any1 using their tube surfing internet, make sure u delete 1st your access point. it is because, garmin will try to connect to Wi-Fi access point then around 10 minutes after cant connect to that connection it will again to use other alternative, and tada, u will connect to satelite. i myself encounter this problem. after i delete the access point ( i mean here access point that i always use to surf internet at my college cafe ), then i try to connect garmin, it just took me about 4 second (after i pressed I Agree then its locked already smile.gif ). Give it a try, i dont know is it really works but its perfect for me.

By default, all Nokia bulit in GPS will be wth 'Assited GPS" enabled. & yes, u will incur gprs/edge/3G charges but very minimal.

To switch off The Assisted function (Which will slow down abit of acquisition timing), goto:

setting>>Phone>>Application setting>>Positioning>>positioning methods>>Unclicked "Assisted GPS"

use A-GPS will charge us very minimal. and it just charge us once then after locked to satelite there is no charges anymore.

btw bro, what is different with garmin and Nokia Maps (default apps in Nokia phone, Maps). i already test it, it cost me RM0.10 everytime i use it and i dont think i see any navigation option there. care to explain?

HI All,

I have a problem with my 5800. When i listen to all using my phone, the volume suddenly reduce by itself and cannot hear the voice clearly. Besides that, i also found out the the loud speakers does not work well and the receiver always can't hear my voice clearly and line is breaking.

Added on April 20, 2009, 5:08 pmAnyone is having similar problem like mine? Have anyone bought the ultra shield for 5800 Tube? I am planning to get a phone cover and also ultra sheild. Any suggestions?

Nokia maps Navigation system need to subscribe mah..It cost me RM40/mth when I first try it last year. If u no need the navigation system, the maps is FOC using the Nokia Map loader program. However the maps is pretty outdated! Lotsa new roads in Klang Valley completed years ago but not updated!!. However, their secondary arteries roads, roads surrounding flats, roads inside factories are more complete than malfreemaps/malsingmaps! - However if us witch to hybrid & satelite view...u will also kena 3G/edge rate!!

Garmin..u buy the software online or get it from any phone retailer..I think ~RM120 only for license Garmin. Thereafter..Everything from satellite& the frequent maps updates from malfreemaps & not so frequent malsingmaps...are FREE.

Google maps pretty detail because they get their maps from a local suppliers (Mapit & teleatlas) & either one of this supplier copied lotsa maps from malsingmaps too!! (Not all)

However....unless u are having unlimited 3G,gprs/edge, try not to switch on google maps....pokai-loh...furthermore the navigation function for Malaysia & Singapore yet to be implemented although u can simulate routes...(Not sure now?)
