I just bought the 5800 XM blue and I'm in complete lost and try to read up the FAQ and the earlier pages/tonnes of posting.

Would anyone kindly advise how do you able to sync this 5800 to Microsoft outlook for contact sync just like some of the nokia phone such as E71 or 6500 slide etc.

Also I can't create access point for my connectivity for wifi at home. I just can't seem to find this access point setup on the menu? I managed to scan and connected to my home wifi but its cannot surf and wont remember the connection....

Having bought my Black tube I was installing the original OVI suite and utilities. Instead of able to sync, it messed up and cause a blue screen. Possibly some conflict with the E71 PC suite that was installed. but I doubt it! Just to be sure, so I uninstall all my nokia apps from notebook and down load new version of PC suite 7 1 18 0 now and will reinstall the PC suite minus OVI. My outlook can sync well with E71 but not the tube! Will know later with new PC Suite.

Also my problem with WIFI at home continue. My LINKSYS Wiresless is WAG200G on 802.11G which is the supported format by tube. While i managed to connect, but no surfing because its say, "No Gateway Reply"... I'm stumped!

Managed to get the PC suite work fine!

Contact and calendar sync well, but not sure why outlook email can't sync.

Anyone know what is no web gateway reply when connected to Wlan but not able to surf/proceed?

As for the No Gateway issues on WIFI, I have read and search the last 13V thread and while there a lot discussion on it, I have not able to resolve the situation based on the suggested steps. I wonder if all those folks encounter this problem already resolve or fixed by NCC as no mentioned of such....?

While I cant logon to my home WIFI, I managed to youtube in the mall free wifi and that confirm at least the phone is working well on full open non secure/encrypt WIFI.

My no gateway problem is driving me nuts. My Wii, my notebook, and previous SE P1i and Nokia 6500 SLIDE able to connect and surf immediately while the 5800 cant!!

My DHCP is on, and my 5800 Access point setup is per many recommended steps, ie automatic DHCP/DNS, WEP is correct, etc etc.

I now left with either set my wifi router completely non secure as in those mall type, and only using MAC allocation to minimized bandwidth stealing... but that is just symptomatic relief! I read in other forum that 5800 have this issues including Nokia forum.

Did the soft reset too.... sad.gif sad.gif

On the Garmin XT usage, does it in anyway incur cost to the telco provider?

What needs to be done to avoid such?

By default, all Nokia bulit in GPS will be wth 'Assited GPS" enabled. & yes, u will incur gprs/edge/3G charges but very minimal.

To switch off The Assisted function (Which will slow down abit of acquisition timing), goto:

setting>>Phone>>Application setting>>Positioning>>positioning methods>>Unclicked "Assisted GPS"

Stimix

Thanks for the clarification. This thread got so many hits that hard to say thanks! 6 pages long in 12 hours.... rclxms.gif

Added on April 21, 2009, 8:54 amThis may be old news, but nevertheless it stressed me out so much I think its good for any other new Tube owner to be aware of such...

As per my previous posting, No Gateway reply...

I found out that the Tube is somehow sensitive in the capital letter for the WEP key. I have managed to log in on free wifi as well as WEP 64bits WIfi at Kim Gary and it confirm I have no problem with the phone DHCP/access point config. And my home wireless router also working fine with other phone, Wii, PSP, etc.

So I try to eliminate the issues by going back to basic, apparently the Tube is particular on the cap sensitive. So for the new owner, if you have the Gateway issues, check on the WEP cap...

Can we use a diff browser with 5800? Its somewhat not very intuitive and the loading is not very mobile centric unlike Nokia 6500 or SE P1i..

Opera?

For those that complain about light leakage....I think that is a bit of nit picking! Granted a well formed injected plastic parts should fit tight and nice, light leakage may not be visible but if the original mould does not have overlapping groove, the light leakage is unavoidable! Then again, its really not an issues on the performances..... however asking NCC to replace those cover etc etc will only introduce more "loose" casing syndrome. It will still be there unless Nokia replace the entire global mould housing and design which is unlikely........

A lot of these parts are assembled and screw on with a specific torque at the factory. Service center usually do not have such resources, tools, to follow factory blue print! If you only have light leakage and worry about it... my suggestion don't!
