Announcement

So many suggestions for P1 here and on http://twitter.com/P1canornot. Not all implemented yet by P1. I suggest we centralize all suggestions on P1 improvements and you can also add a suggestion, vote and/or comment on existing suggestions. Using Google Moderator, we've started the ball rolling. Go http://moderator.appspot.com/#15/e=9d7a9&t=9a0fe to begin voting and posting your own suggestions which others can then vote too. All you need is your gmail id to begin.

Hopefully, with this voting system, P1 will be motivated to know which suggestions have the highest priority  smile.gif

Credit goes to Baliwesti for the suggestion to use Google Moderator. Thanks man.

I think we should let it to be here instead of google moderator. What for a lyn member take up another account in google just to highlight a problem where they can highlight it here?

Your RSSI and CINR is too low... Time to move the modem.
Try to get -65 for RSSI and CINR of 18

******* P1 SUPPORT *******
Read this:

I share the same as everyone else over here. This is my 3rd month going into P1 and I've only enjoyed the speed that I've paid for for the first 1.5 weeks of subscription (RM200/month 2.4 pkg) . The last 10.5 weeks, i can hardly browse or download any files at a decent rate.

I've since opened at least
- 4 support tickets,
- had a tech come readjust the modem but failed to make any impact
- sent quite a few speedtest screen shots.
Nothing has changed and they've always closed the tickets without my permission and marking them 'solved'. The only time I can get decent 'speed' is during the hours of 5-6am for about 1 hour. Other than that, its pathetic and pages take time to load.

I'm a technical guy who knows quite a bit about how networking works so I've already done quite a bit of trouble shooting on this issue on my own. Look at my screenshot of my connection to the tower in Sri Hartamas.

Technical Support claims to keep 'escalating' my case but it is the same thing every single time: I get a call from a level 1 support asking me: "Do you still have connection? Can I close the case?"
- Which part of "MY DOWNLOAD SPEED IS HORRIBLE" do they not comprehend?
******** To those wanting to subscribe *******
Read This:
1. STAY AWAY from P1 if you want to avoid the headache
2. Speed and stability is a HUGE issue for the price you are paying. Might as well go with another provider.
3. The support is horrible - they do not troubleshoot. They only read from scripts.

Crapping here without telling where is your area is futile.

Besides, Wimax is really area dependent. Your area may be slow but I am getting 2mbps.

i have question about this desc. since im newbie to p1, how do i read this? what's RSSI, CINR, TX power for? do i need to know bout this?
really appreciate if anyone could explain it.  biggrin.gif
*
RSSI and CINR, the higher the better for better connection, NOT SPEED. Speed is dependent on the base station to provide you with the speed. However, RSSI and CINR come into concern because bad signal affects the speed.

Therefore, these value are very important to determine either it is your signal problem or the speed problem.

TX Power is the electricity provided to the modem to run smoothly - If I am not wrong, the lower the value, the operability become worse, but Tx Power wouldn't be an issue unless you are using Wiggy.

If I am wrong, kindly correct me.

delang - noticed you are on twitter. You can follow @P1Media or me. Recently @P1Media also provided definitions for RSSI, CINR ...

I'd already answered his questions. Wimax is actually not new technology. Wimax was first created in year 2001. But, it's considered new in Malaysia. Even Wimax, we are 6 years back, that's considered ok.

TX power: -9

so far no problem with connection.

actually im not inp1 coverage which bandar sri permaisuri.  biggrin.gif

Most probably there's a forecast base station nearby. That's the only reason I could foresee the good speed.

Hmmm... They might be adding more Base Station nearby.

I thought they will put you in Value Break Program instead of letting you terminate?

So actually the lower the RSSI the better?
*
WRONG!

The higher the better. Take note of the negative sign.

-65 and -45. -45 is higher. Therefore, -45 is better than -65.

RSSI stands for Received Signal Strength Indication, the stronger the signal, the better. Mobile Phone normally will not have -ve value. But I have no idea why wimax has negative value. It's quite similar to DSL Modem's Line Attenuation, but Line Attenuation should be lower the better, RSSI is just quite the opposite.

As for CINR (Carrier to Interference plus Noise Ratio), the higher the better. It's calculated using this method: Signal / (interference + noise ratio) = CINR Value.
CINR is similar to SNR margin in DSL modem, the higher the value, the better the connection.

Thanks for the info. But where do i check my RSSI, so that i can position my DS 230 modem better for faster streaming?

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/959378

Check the above link.

QUOTE(Acrisius @ Jul 12 2009, 10:10 PM)
It's really depends on your area traffic, even i used whole day just moving around the modem and get the best performance. But in the end, when the peak hours strike on the time. I can't have a smooth ride on my streaming videos

Anyway my specs, CINR = 28 , RSSI = -47, Tx power = -5
*
Hmm... That's if the base station is congested. If it's not, my above information are theoretically correct. biggrin.gif

Was just reading through the terms and conditions and apparently it is 15 days. Is this correct?
I can't find their SSG policy anywhere though.

*edit: oops found it. It's all good.
*
You're reading an outdated T&C. Read below.

QUOTE
In the event the Subscriber terminates the Service provided within seven (7) days of
Service Activation, Subscribers will be classified to be under the Cooling Off Period
(here on known as “COP”) policy. In the COP policy, the Device and all other items in

immediately within seven  (7) days  from  the date of Service Activation  in good and
working  condition  to  the  standard  acceptable  by  the  Service  Provider  and/or  its
