hey guys, I have some questions about the plants

Firstly, is it ok to use tap water left to sit for 24 hours? or must use rainwater?

Secondly, must the soil be in direct contact with water in the dish below? or should it be propped up?

Thirdly, has anyone here tried keeping the small ones like D. burmanii in a closed/partially closed terrarium? I have a large kicap bottle that I have no use for, just thought I'd try it out.

gonna get a couple of sundews tomorrow! biggrin.gif

use tap water for all my cp with no problem smile.gif

depending on species actually, if sundew, a water tray(pot sit on tray filled with water around half the pot height) under full sun is good smile.gif

For Burmanii, I fail to keep them well under bright condition but they blossom under full sun...but given up on drosera as I found them grow like weed once establish, went into VFT instead smile.gif

It digest mosquito that are traps on it, it does not "hunt" smile.gif

Simple clue for the misconception of carnivorous plant: Active/Passive

ACTIVE:
-approaching style like hunt, i.e. a cat hunt a rat

PASSIVE:
-waiting style like trap, i.e. mouse trap that are placed for a rat to fall victim to, it does not go for the mouse but rather attract the mouse to fall for it

Carnivorous plants are PASSIVE killer, they do not move around to look for it's prey but rather attract it's prey to fall for it

i just bought some d. burmannii and d. intermedia.

will they do fine in the balcony? i live in an apartment. and my balcony does NOT face the sun as there is another block opposite my balcony. so they dont get direct sunlight. will they do okay?
