I hope to get some opinion regarding to running Window on Mac.

I'm a degree student myself, just switched from Window to Macintosh and word processing is required for assignment. I know iWork should perform just fine on the purpose, but I got alot of  Microsoft Documents and the campus is distributing learning material in Microsoft Office format.

Therefore, I need to run Microsoft Office in my Mac. However, the Mac version of Microsoft Office is real expensive and I was planning to get Parallel Desktop 7 instead (to run window on mac, I do have original window version of Microsoft Office).

So which option is better?
1. Microsoft Office (Mac Version)
2. Parallel Desktop 7 + Window OS
*
try to find out if u can get office for mac cheaper from ur university. my uni sells them for AUD 99.

Anyone able to help me with Boot Camp? I tried Partition my drive but the system told me to format my drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

May I know what can I do to continue my step to install Windows by solving this Partition error I am having?

Thank you
*
manual partition using disk utlility or using boot camp assistant?

the boot camp partition format shouldn't matter. you're gonna format it to NTFS using the windows installer anyway

well yes it's a heavy task but... if u dont want to run heavy task, why not just buy a netbook then tongue.gif

most electronics are like this. even if u do ur best to take care of it, there's still a chance it'll die on u in 2-3 years. im not saying they will, but it wont be a surprise. i also wont be surprised if a mac can last 7-8 years having running parallel every single day

the only way is to buy a gadget, n never open the box. like that sure can last decades.

the way i see it, u already spent ur money on a mac, so make full use of it. and parallels opens up ur mac to so many windows-exclusive softwares, it's really like having a 2nd computer.

hi. need advice please.
want to run win xp pro on MBA 2010 2G RAM 64GB using VMware.
anyone done this? any lag or slowdown?
*
i've done that on a slower machine so it should be fine, but i wont recommend it. dont expect to run memory-hog software.

perhaps bootcamp would be a better choice if u need to use a memory-hog windows software. u only have 2gb RAM

Have anyone face any problem with MS Word for Mac created doc open in Windows to find all the formatting run off?
*

are you using Lion / Mountain Lion? before installing windows, didn't Boot Camp Assistant prompt you to download the drivers first?

im not using those OS, but try launching boot camp assistant and look for a way to download the drivers. if im not mistaken it'll be in .exe format. u just need to launch this EXE from within windows 8.

QUOTE(kuekwee @ Dec 4 2012, 05:04 PM)
put your mac cd...should have driver there.
*
macs dont come with dvds since Lion.

QUOTE(hailiss8384 @ Dec 4 2012, 05:40 PM)
where to find mac cd?
*
this is why i assume u're running Lion or mountain lion.

the file size of the driver depends on the mac u're using.

if you keep getting errors, try downloading from here instead: http://www.cafe-encounter.net/p682/download-bootcamp-drivers

you need to know ur mac's model identifier to download the correct drivers though. launch About This Mac, More Info.., it should show under Hardware overview.
