haa that's ur problem smile.gif i got it before too. i believe this is a common bug in bootcamp, saw quite a number of people experiencing this as well. doesnt have anything to do with secure erase

this is what happened. the FIRST time we partition the hdd for bootcamp, as u know OSX creates a partition to install windows on it. so we go ahead n install windows, blablabla, everything went fine.

but when one day we decide to Merge as a Single Partition, somehow the merging didnt delete some data stuck at the bootcamp partition. im not familiar with the technicalities, but it's something like we have some leftover files stuck at where the bootcamp partition was. we do stil end up with a single partition though.

because of this stuck leftover data, we get that error. those 'files cannot be moved' are referring to those data.

sometimes defragging works for some reason. the only sure-fire way i know to fix this is to clone ur system to an external HDD, erase the internal hdd, and clone back. sad.gif

the weird thing i notice is that this occurs a lot more on bootcamp 3.0. i only got it a few times in bootcamp 2.0, and i NEVER got it during the beta +_+

^ if im not mistaken, juz install windows 7 64bit 1st using 3.0.2. when u're done, log into windows an open the 3.1 .exe from there. i think the update are just drivers.

Yea. I read up on it. Now only I understand that the 3.1 was
meant for after the windows is installed. Thanks a lot. By the way, after I install windows via bootcamp, can I run widows on mac using vmware?
*
u can make a virtual machine based on ur boot camp partition. so u do something in the VM, log out OSX, log in bootcamp, the changes are there smile.gif

u can also choose to create a brand new VM, not based on ur boot camp partition. obviously this takes up more space and u need another windows license for this

yah i already done that ...my mac isn't connected to internet all the time so its very annoying that every now and then i need to adjust the clock and besides I want to know whats the real cause of this problem
*
well the real cause (as i've read) is because windows n mac handles the system time differently. sorry i couldnt understand how or why, n i havent found a good fix for this.

yes automatic time update only works when u're connected to the internet

funny how this problem never gets solved ever since bootcamp beta. it's not even a one off problem either, im pretty sure everyone using bootcamp is having this problem

Go to http://osx86.sojugarden.com/category/working-with-os-x/

Scroll down half way to --

Section 2 : Troubleshooting & Multi-Boots

Section 2:a – Time synchronization

Theres a simple registry file you can download to fix the problem.

Problem solved!
*

straight to the Q :
Im currently using bootcamp on my mbp..and am about to install PD5. Would it be a problem if install it w/o removing the bootcamp partition at the first place?
next, if im using PD to virtually operates win7, what about the internet connection? can it connect thru mac internet connection?

p.s. : Sorry for the stupid question..haha
*
no problem. you'll have a choice of installing a fresh windows system, or use ur bootcamp system as a virtual machine.

n yeap, it'll use ur mac's internet connection to go online. dun have to configure anything, no need to install any drivers

hi guys, i've successfully installed PD5 and win 7 pro. I also removed my boot camp via boot camp assistant with no problem. glad it works. but somehow i noticed some diff when i played DMC4 the game seems to be lagging like matrix slomo..what seems to be the prob? last time played on bootcamp the game went smooth and fast..
*
that's because ur windows7 on PD5 is a virtual machine. it doesnt even know what GPU u have, much less actually taking advantage of it. another thing is that u're using more resources to run two OS at once

for performance, bootcamp is the way. i guess u need to go reinstall bootcamp again to play ur games

haiyaaa..need to reinstall again..hahaha..i guess i just go install fresh copy of XP la kot..use to play games only..can or not? which one better: win7 or XP?

mmm..if to compare betw OSX w/o bootcamp and OSX with bootcamp, does it has any issue in terms of performance?

Where can i adjust the scroll gesture on my virtual win7? The scroll is too fast hahhaha..

btw..i use PD5 with win7 just to integrate with ms outlook only..hhehehe
*
both xp n 7 are good. im not sure how's the new drivers for windows7 is performing though

OSX w/o or w/ bootcamp got no difference, unless ur HDD is almost full.

office 2011 for mac will include a proper outlook client, so u wont need PD anymore hehe

hi, my mac is using parallels destop 5...but why i only can use mac to online but can't use window to online? any1 can help? i appreciate..^^
*
i dont use desktop 5 (only up til 4) but try to find the Settings page for your VM (i think it only works when the VM is not running). there should be an option to share the network with OSX

QUOTE(Ajeng @ Jul 5 2010, 08:28 PM)
So I upgraded my MacBook White (Spring 2009) RAM to 4 GB from 2 GB. Now when I boot into Windows 7, it tells me that 4GB is installed but only 2 GB is usable. But when I go to OSX it says that all 4 GB is able to be used.

Also when I check the resource monitor it says 2048 MB is hardware reserved, now I assume thats for the 9400M but when I check CPU-z it says that its only running on 256MB of RAM.

I'm running on Windows 7 Starter Edition 32-bit.
Any solutions?
*
sorry ah, but are you talking about bootcamp or VM?

hello there,i love mac and i will be getting a macbook pro soon, however when im bored i wish to have some entertainment that is warcraft 3...may i know for 13 inch macbook pro,if i wan to play dota smoothly by using parallel desktop, which one should i buy?2.4 2.66 ghz?the price difference is 1k which is quite a big number,if 2.4 could runs well, why shud i pay for the extra right?thanks in advance
*
1st of all, i nvr played dota on VM before so i cant comment much. but 2.66ghz wont be much of an improvement against 2.4ghz for gaming. if 2.66 can, im pretty sure 2.4 can play also.
