I'm not sure abt tutor in malaysia.. but you can get lecture video from Stanford University and all of the materials from the website itself. You can learn the whole semester through video.

http://www.stanford.edu/class/cs193p/cgi-bin/index.php

You need iTunes to access the contents of iTunes U and download the lecture vids.

Why cannot use student discounted Macbook? Planning to get one just for developing app as well before graduate.

I'm developing an app for the International market. Hoping to get some cash to buy the new iPhone and a Macbook 13.

There have been classes on iPhone development at Apple Malaysia office.

If you're an MMU student, there's also an upcoming class for that as well. Too bad, I can't go due to ITP. Anyway, I think all anyone need is patient. Don't release a bad app or rush through it. Take your time and improve your app constantly.

Hi matblogger,

do you sell your iphone apps internationally? Apple seperates the payments by different currencies, example: USD, YEN, CAD, EUR..., and each currency need to be reached equal value of USD250 to get a pay, i was wonder except the USD, how they calculate the other currency, based on international currency conversion or apple's own conversion or local bank currency? did u receive the direct bank in of others payments except USD currency?

QUOTE(matblogger @ Jul 3 2009, 07:07 AM)
They will actually bank it directly into your account. You will need to setup your bank account on itunesconnect. I have setup my MAYBANK account and they direct debit into my account. Thats the reason they wait for the earnings to reach USD $250 since they do not want to spend money for bank transfers for lower amounts of payouts. It will not make sense for Apple.

Just to set the record right, those classes that had been held at Apple Malaysia's office are not conducted by Apple. Its actually conducted by a 3rd party of which had gotten Apple Malaysia to agree to let them use their training area for a few sessions.

Kudos to all fellow Malaysian iPhone app devs. Very proud to see awesome apps like Penang Bridge being offered. Wish you all the best success and carry on making awesome apps for our fellow countrymen.

PS. KL traffic app similar to Penang Bridge would be totally awesome!

Check this out. This is the latest (actually the first) from us at Studio Caterpillar.
But this one only apply to Muslim iPhone / iPod Touch users. It's called Al-Asma' Ul-Husna. Muslims should know what this is all about.
Below is the link to go direct to iTunes Store.
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore...=325185702&mt=8

You can also check out some more info at http://studiocaterpillar.wordpress.com. Do post suggestions for future version of the application.
Thanx..

Your Al-Asma' Ul-Husna (99 Divine Names of Allah) app looks very solid indeed. I'm sure our fellow muslim brothers and sisters will appreciate it. Do continue to churn out more quality apps and make us all proud!

Ladies and gentlemen, my second app got approved about a week ago, after more than a month in the review process. But, let's not talk about our friendly-neighbourhood Apple app-reviewers, shall we?

BattPowr is not your usual battery life app. Aside to showing you the estimated time available for various functions, it also (optionally) animates the battery image while you charge your device. Currently, it will only display the percentage at 5% all thanks to the SDK's restrictions.

I am working on v1.01 now which will have more features, including more built-in skins.

You may check out the app from the iTunes Store here: http://bit.ly/battpowr, or see it in action over at http://xcoolapps.com

MyRedz, under the ICONApps program mentioned by sc1988 above, you can get all below, practically FOC:
- a 5 day iPhone development training worth rm3500
- MAC PC and iPod Touch worth rm3500 combined
- the USD99 Apple Developer Program registration

but first you need to:
- have a proposal for an app to develop under the program
- pay yourself all the above (except the training, you pay only rm1500) first
-- after a certain milestones, the amount you forked out will be fully reimbursed (of course if you chose to buy mac book air and iPhone 3GS or something, you will only get back max rm3500 under the 'PC and iPod Touch')

Hope this helps...

total amount needed: rm1500 (training) + rm3500 (equipments, assuming you do not have mac and ipod touch yet) + rm400++ (rm300++ actually, lets round to rm400) = rm5400.

milestone duration depends on how fast you develop.
- 1st milestone: app running without error on the amulator
- 2nd milestone: app running without error on actual device
- 3rd milestone: app got approved and on sale in iTunes Store

for more info, check with MDeC. This is MDeC's program. Not sure if they work closely with Apple Malaysia or not.
iphone@mdec.com.my, mdecdev@me.com.

other funding, you can check with MDeC. They have some attractive funding programs. Funds mind you. not loan. meaning you dont have to pay back, provided you complete the project.
