For Chem Eng, you have to take Chemistry and Process Systems Analysis. For other disciplines, I'm not too sure myself heh...

Eng seniors, for E&CS, what do we have to take for Level 1?

For ECSE, well, you can take any electives.
It doesn't really matter cause the most important unit in year one is ENG1030 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
I would recommend ENG1050 Engineering Materials.
If you want to gain more friends, you can take CHM1011 Chemistry which is offered by the science faculty.
Hope this helps, Cheers.

There's a list of recommended electives that you can take according to the branch of engineering that you are interested.
Click on the link provided above.

1. 1st year unit.. many would say money and caps is much harder than this
2. no super math genius necessary - only one or two formulas for the whole sem.. d hiba calculation.. quite simple and straightforward
3. more on diagrams and understanding of theory (written essays) than calculations
4. i forgot to bring calculator in the exam  doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif but its ok because the exam is 95% written..only half a question based on calculations
5. but its ok i got a D for it smile.gif
6. its not religion class, dun get islamophobic over the name.. its just another system to complement the jewish banking system aka conventional banking

there are others but quite challenging or they're core units.. psy1011 the basic psychology 100% objective, 100Q.. but.. u will wish it was subjective.. or the intro to management (core), then int'l business mgw2351 (not bad), intro to e-business (quite a lot of frens took but personally not my thing laugh.gif), then accounting B (if ur acc major its required), and not too sure if they still do intro to marketing mkw1120 in summer nowadays.

For accounting A, it was super popular to register a place in summer if you feel that u wont pass it on the first try (for july intake), in oct 2008, the waiting list was an A4 paper long  sweat.gif

Psy 1011 (psycho 1A) needs some reading (textbook + couple more would be good, as the questions are not direct) and time commitments (dun skip labs more than once without good reasons, otherwise will impact ur attendance record which is a hurdle requirement). It has a couple of classes on history (who said what, who proposed what) about the early founders of psychology though, so if u guys absolutely hate history and additional reading - may wanna reconsider

Used ones are available, but check the bookshop, sometimes new edition comes out. Primetime for used book sellers is the 2nd week of classes. Sometimes sunway college bookstore may be cheaper, so shop around.

Physics used to be a highly recommended unit, but starting from 2011, it has been replaced by engineering profession.
Physics is quite challenging. You have 4 to 5 mini projects which requires you to build simple prototypes with your groupmates.
I learned a lot thru the group projects though.

Well, the electives pretty much depend on which branch of engineering you intend to take in year 2.
For chemical, go for PSA and Chemistry. For mechanical, go for material and another elective.
Note that there are 2 additional requirement by the School of Engineering for Chemical and Mechanical Engineering.

Hello everyone. I recently have quite a few dilemmas about what to study and where. I've just done my foundation in science program at Aimst University, and i'm looking into Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy.

I was told that nowadays, being a doctor is not as good as previously anymore. I was even told that doctors working as if they are slaves in the hospitals and the pay and increment is quite bad. And I even found out that to be a specialists now graduating from a not-so-famous University is almost impossible and very hard to find a job now or even get a license bcos there are just too many doctors! Anyone can help me to verify all these??

Then I was looking into Dentistry. The tuition fees is very expensive. I know Dentistry is not as stressfull and busy as doctors even during study times, am i right? Are there any suggestions of Universities besides Aimst University that are not too expensive?

Pharmacy I know it offers a stable job and income, and no as busy as doctors as well. But how's the demand of pharmacists the field now? As for what i know, there are many pharmacists nowadys and getting more already. I saw many countries are in demand of accountants and stuff, but no pharmacist! And also where should I study at? I actually planned to go overseas after i've finished my studies regardless of what degree i'll be holding on.

I hope someone can do a short analysis for me. About the salary, the demand and the working conditions after I've graduated for any of the 3 courses.

By the way, I've got a cgpa of 4.0 for my FIS program. Also, I'm worried about not being able to handle the courses and my ptptn loan wont be funding me anymore. If that's the case, i wont be able to continue my studies. Monash is in my consideration as well, but the intake is february which is very late. Please help, this is very urgent! thanks =)

what i can say to you is doctor and pharmacist are nearly being saturated for the market, tats why you can see the government has done some changes in their policies in order to suit the changes of the market. For dentistry, so far i heard it is still a good pay job,so if you really interested in such field ,i can foresee tat dentistry is not a bad road

ic ic... but I'm in such a big dilemma bcos dentistry apparently the tuition fees is very expensive. Besides financial problems, I am worried that I cannot cope with it. I NEED the ptptn loan to continue to study.

Well, this may sound really cheap, but which elective can we score the highest? My results for the 1st sem is, well, rclxub.gif, and since I'm planning to take E&CS anyway, i might as well aim for the easiest-to-score elective then, to hopefully bring my scores up.

I did both units almost 3 years ago lolz!

Trade Finance is slightly trickier but still not a big problem, got a D for that smile.gif

I'm very bad with numbers, and one glance at the syllabus made me realize I will need extra help. T_T

I assume you've graduated, though? So you won't be able to tutor or something? unsure.gif
