QUOTE(zstan @ Feb 5 2011, 12:07 PM) Hmmm, will find out about the swimming pool. But trust me, you wouldn't wan to use sunway's library. @@ you need to get a pass from Monash's swimming club to use the swimming pool in Sun-U Residence..it's a olympic-size pool and from what I heard, it's not so clean.. |

There wouldn't be many activities for engineering students.
I think there's gonna be a tour of the campus, speech by head of school and the 1st year coordinator. That's about it! Don't forget to attend the MOlympics(now known as the battle of Monashians) on friday =D You will get to do you ID card on the week after that. QUOTE(jamieyeap91 @ Feb 10 2011, 12:40 PM) Is there any engineering students specifically chemical engineering? Hi there, I'm an Engineering student but I'm not majoring in Chemical Engineering but I hope I can help you.And for outstation students where do you stay and how do you get to the university? Well, you could stay in Sun-U Residence or Sun-U Apartment which is the hostel provided by Monash and Sunway University. You can walk to Monash and it takes about 5 minutes with you walk fast. Other options are Lagoon View which is nearby too if you don't plan to bring a car to sunway. |

QUOTE(jamieyeap91 @ Feb 10 2011, 04:09 PM) Is there any other option cos I'm looking for a place with reasonable price. Any public transport available if I choose to live somewhere in PJS 10? or is SS13 far from that place? public transport? ermm.. I'm not so sure about that.what's your budget? the rent for sun-u apartment is quite reasonable. RM400+ a month if I'm not mistaken. but it will be demolished soon to make way for new buildings. SS12 is not far from monash university, maybe 15 minutes walk from monash? |

QUOTE(Granger @ Feb 14 2011, 05:18 PM) If i'm gonna major in mechanical engineering later, izzit better to take physics for engineering or process system analysis? Physics is definitely better for you cause it used to be a recommended subject before this coming semester. If you intend to major in Chemical Engineering, PSA is a HIGHLY recommended subject. Added on February 14, 2011, 8:41 pm QUOTE(hadoupening @ Feb 14 2011, 05:44 PM) Hey, erm, quick question here for BEng seniors, when do we choose our major? Is it when we have to choose our 2nd year subjects? Or do we have to choose right away when we start out first sem? No, if you are entering Monash this coming semester, you will only have to choose your major by September. Also, are there quotas for certain majors? Eg, we (as in everyone from the same year) can't all choose Chem Eng? Thanks! There's usually not quota. But from what I heard, if you intend to major in Electrical and Computer System, you must pass Maths and Electrical. By the way, I have some Year 1 books which you guys might want to check out =D This post has been edited by Aar0nY: Feb 14 2011, 08:41 PM |

Anybody know anyway I can get a free place to stay? Any friends here willing to let me sleep in their room for free? lol. the accomodation is just expensive. Im not even transferring. So you are transferring to Australia for a semester or two? I assume you are a Business student? Well, you can rent a room near Monash, my seniors are doing that |

QUOTE(Granger @ Feb 16 2011, 11:39 AM) 4 more days of your beauty sleep hey, I'm an engineering student.for engineering course, 2 are cores units, another 4 is pre-selected. pre-selected means highly recommended or a 'must take'? because the engineering profession unit seems boring Well, the 4 pre-selected units are HIGHLY recommended. BUT, engineering profession WAS NOT one of the recommended unit for last year. Maybe you could go to the engineering office and ask the officers there whether it is possible to drop that unit and replace it with another unit. Some of my friends dropped Electrical and replaced it with Chemistry. By the way, I have some second hand engineering books for sale, click on the link below to have a look |

QUOTE(hadoupening @ Feb 17 2011, 12:29 AM) I'm faced with this too. Just check Engineering website, in a small corner they state that we need to hand in the course enrolment forms by the first day of the orientation, so I guess it's going to be quite a queue then. don't worry. Your seniors will guide you thru it.They didn't told me about the form too... Heard they have replaced Physics with Profession as one of the recommended units. Is it true? |

QUOTE(Iliveunderwater @ Feb 17 2011, 07:43 AM) Why do people go to Caulfield actually?? I think you are refer to those who are studying business. And why do people go to Clayton?? What makes some people choose caulfield / clayton??? anyone know?? My friend told me that if you want to transfer to clayton, you need to take engineering mathematics. Maybe that's one of the factors. |
