Hey, when i order an item from the US and it is sent with USPS, when it reaches Malaysia which company is it passed to complete the deliver? Pos Malaysia?

Because i'm sure USPS does not have any company here right?

They might have contract with local delivery services, or using Pos Malaysia.
I dont think their website will tell which delivery services they appoint so your best pick is to call them to enquire, or unless someone ordered from them b4 and tell u.

Hmm i call Pos Malayisa, then acknowledge having the item. On the USPS website it shows cleared from customs yesterday, but the pos malaysia customer service tells me that it has not "Officially" cleared customs, what does this mean?

it probably means two things:
1) someone is not telling u the proper/right answer
2) you need to ask them (pos malaysia) again for a proper answer

maybe u should call Pos Malaysia in KLIA. they should be able to tell you. is it a flat rate box / express ship? or normal first class mail?
you can only track the flat rate box/express ship, but can't track the first class mail by them.

normally, once it is cleared custom in KLIA, will take another 3-5 working days to reach you depends on your location.

Does anybody have any experience receiving USPS first class mail parcels from US ? How long was the shipping time and any processes that you need to go thru?

normally it takes about 14 days, depending how fast the custom clearance on Malaysia side.

I've bought two items from ebay recently, shipped with USPS. It's already 3 weeks, nothing arrives.
I've called 1300 300 300, the rude lady said there's no system to trace such parcel. Pos Malaysia Sucks big time.

What type of shipping method you use?

There is a few choices of shipping method. One of them is Express Mail which offer tracking number.
Pos laju will handle the mail once arriving to Malaysia.
But I'm not sure if you are using normal air mail tho.

If you afraid your item blocked by customs,you can always ask senders marked ur items as "GIFT" but so far those items i brought from amazon,ebay which was delivered by USPS got no problem at all

since the topic is on USPS, i need to ask question on USPS delivery as well.

I bought something from US (Hawaii) and the sender used USPS Global Priority Shipping to ship to M'sia. It's the most economical (i think) and with no tracking no i believe. The delivery date stated was on 30.3.2011.

I just need to know the gross timeline for USPS to deliver the item to Malaysia. It's been 1 1/2 month and i'm beginning to worry.
You guys have any idea?

1-2 months, i received letter from california arrived in 1 months, so parcel will take even longer.

if u send using USPS, it is extremely recommended to use at least registered mail, much better express mail. USPS is popular to lost the parcels. registered and express mail cost more, but it is much better than didnt receive ur parcel.

i purchased 2 items from 2 separate sellers. 1 sent via USPS Priority Small Flat Rate Box, 1 via USPS Flat Rate Envelope. Price of both items did not exceed RM500.

As for me, only USPS Box has tracking updates (but only until it leaves the US). USPS Envelope did not update anything.

Both items reached my house simultaneously. But with no notice from the postman (Pos Malaysia).

from my experience....

1) the longest time for postal of item from United states to malaysia would be 14 working days
2) the longest time to clear malaysia customs would be 10 working days
3) after the customs, the item/parcel/letter will be passed to poslaju and will be delivered in longest is 5 working days..

these are the longest time... the fastest i got the item would be around is supprisingly 6 DAYS!!!

so.. it depends on your luck...

you can always check the time for each...

to check where the item is at... and i assume you know the delivery date so it would not be a problem to see whether it has passed 14 working days...

1) if item has not being "arrived abroad" >> call usps
2) if item has been "into foreign customs" but not been "out of foreign customs" >> call customs asking why item have not cleared and call usps in order
3) if item has already bee "out of foreign customs" >> go to http://202.185.150.100/emstrack/ (thanks to SonnyCooL for url) and check or call 1300 300 300 to speak with a pos laju rep.. hope this helps all

owh.. and if you dont have any tracking number.. i think the number under the bar code or what ever number on the foreign delivery paper would do...

Seller used USPS express mail, tracking number can check on both USPS website and to my surprise, Poslaju website also.

Once enter malaysia, it will show up in poslaju website.

Hi order something from oversea ship through USPS, I managed to track on Poslaju tracking. However it shows - Item held by custom for inspection. High value goods.
So what does it means? Held by custom? My goods is about Rm900 and it is wools cotton for handycraft purpose. My point is how should I do to clear my goods and what kind of tax will I need to pay? Lastly who can I find act behalf as my clearance.

How can you get the information from US to Malaysia?

Above information is what I can only get. I tried to call pos laju and they said not yet arrived. Will it be lost? A nice guy told me wont, maybe it sent by kapal so take more time... I bought the thing from ebay also.. read lot of bad comment about USPS also..

First Class Mail is more like standard international mail (without tracking number) It takes about almost a month to arrive in malaysia. Once arrive in Malaysia, Pos Malaysia will handle the mail. Poslaju only handle USPS Express Mail International/Priority Mail International

I have ordered 2 items from Whitening Lightning and they are using USPS - First Class International ®. This service has a tracking number - i.e. LJXXXXXXXXXUS, but this tracking provides only info on the mailing date. It won't provide further details on the shipping details for IN and OUT the countries.

The shipping was posted in the system on 08.08.2011 and till now I have received no news on the parcels at all.

So checked with POS Malaysia and what the 2 officers told me was that the tracking number starts with "L" is untraceable in POS Malaysia system. They said the only solution is to check with USPS but the First Class International does not have tracking system to check the status. Hence, I have nowhere to turn to but depends on my luck if the parcel can reach me. Anyone who has faced the same problem before?? Appreciate your guidance.

Until this Thursday 29th, it's being late 1 months.

Call up my seller, they will check with the local Post office and Malaysia Pos laju.

USPS trace n confirm show up the same result never update anything.

I heard some forum Express mail it's take exactly 1 months to arrive Asia. WTF we paid Express mail for nothing.

Is your on USPS First-Class Mail as well?? Mine was since 08.08.2011. 2 items lagi.. *sad*

Yes, pos malaysia will handle the parcel when it's get here.

If u were not at home when they send the parcel, they'll send u a yellow card stating u need to collect it at the post office.....

yes, they will leave a card to inform u pick up yourself in your nearly area pos laju.


Other then that, some pos laju men will leave it at door-step without need a sign.

Sorry for late reply - Yes I received mine, it came on the 23rd I think, could be 22nd but I'm sure in my logs it was 23rd). I would also not count on the status that they seem to put on their pages - if anything it's best to contact pos malaysia or the other courier service as well as the seller, but like others said it might take time, but if youc an't wait then you should contact just to double check - no harm in doing so.

Old thread but I just want to share my experience.

Not sure which postal service in M'sia are they linked with but the item I ordered from U.S came in 2 weeks and only in the 3rd or fourth week since I got my tracking code only I knew my item already arrived 2-3 weeks ago It was quite swift, not sure why.

I was home all day for few days and I didn't even get the letter to pick up the item also so I don't know what to do or where to collect..

bro my experience on usps is. u must use the package number and track at pos malaysia and sometime the thing arrive ade. JUST POS MALAYSIA BOLEH din not contact u onli.

I used USPS..My cousin sent parcel from Wisconsin on the 3rd..the tracking stops on the 4th at Chicago..and the 9th I got letter from Pos Malaysia..stuck at custom's office..

I have used USPS since Oct 2011 and till now 2 items never reached me. Through my investigation I found this out whenever you use USPS Priority Mail International, there would be a tracking number but this tracking number will not be recorded once it reaches Post Malaysia. Why ? according to the Post Malaysia officer which I spoke to, said that this is a normal parcel post and they would not record it. Unless it is a registered parcel post. To me, THIS SUCKS man. In this present times everything has has been made easy with online tracking facility and here Post Malaysia doesn't follow the system. In the US the USPS has done their part with tracking numbers.

In the earlier post I read here someone ask why there are 2 foreign customs check point in US itself well, I can answer to this.

No, its not 2 foreign customs. If you read the dates carefully, the sender send in on 31 Mar and accepted in Blue Bell, PA. On the same day it was sorted out and it was dispatch to their USPS International Dispatch hub in nearest center and this is probably in ISC Chicago Il (USPS) and from there is leaves the US.
This quite normal in the US b'cos US is so big.

Anyway, come back to my case. I have given up my lost item ( 2 lenses).

In the 90's I use to buy stuffs from the US and some items never reach me and when some of the parcel did reached me I discovered that things were missing inside, items were gone. When I reported to Post Malaysia HQ (Daya Bumi), they actually have an Investigation Dept. set up for this purpose - Lost items, lost mails, lost parcels. Where did you think all these missing parcels went. There are thieves within out there. The amount of things go missing is alarming, what you read here is only a handful. There parcels and mails go missing almost everyday. Hey, how can parcel go missing when there is an address on it even if the tracking number is not recorded you still have the address to deliver to. But when the theives know it is not recorded they take advantage to steal the parcel. In a month if there are 10 parcels undelivered it should be still there right but its never delivered so where it went. Think hard bro. Things can't go missing like that.

When a parcel arrives in Malaysia, 2 parties are responsible, they are the Customs Dept. and Post Malaysia. So my dear friends here if you can track down and recover your parcel, please tell us how to do it.

Because we can't prove anything here.

I am not saying that every parcel will go missing, its just a small percentage go missing. Thousands and thousands of mails and parcels flow into the country everyday. A small percentage of parcel go missing is bad enough cos these are things that belongs to people and if your parcel is in this small percentage then you are unlucky my friend.

Which KLIA pos office should i goto? and is it still negotiable for the tax?

It's still stuck in their facility. Ask the sender to check with them for this item.

It may be a valuable good, that is why it's being detained. My goods are also being detained. No worries, they just want you to declare it in front of them. You may not need to pay tax if they do not ask you to. Otherwise, they just want to see only.

Just go to the Pusat Mel & Kurier Pos Malaysia, next to LCCT Sepang.

hi guys, the tracking from USPS can sometimes be misleading and inaccurate, example my case below (still on-going)

USPS says the item is in Malaysia, but addressee not available and addressee advised to pick up item

Weird thing is, I ain't got no letter or notice to pick it up, plus the delivery address is to my office so no way it can reach here without anyone taking it in for me

I tried calling USPS to no avail, so after reading the above, I tried tracking it in POS Malaysia and walla, the item just arrived in their office this morning at 6am, and they'll need 2-3 working days to send it off to my office

So, if your case is similar, don't believe the tracking info in USPS too much. And if the item is supposed to be here in malaysia already, try tracking it in POS Malaysia

Another thing is sometimes USPS tracking number cannot be used at their website because POS Malaysia will somehow issue another tracking number for their system, that will only be available to us when their letter of detained good by customs arrive at our doorstep. The best and most effective way, however, I recommend, is to:

(This is in accordance with USPS tracking website.)

1. Wait till your parcel has ARRIVED AT SORT FACILITY in MALAYSIA.
2. Once arrived, it should be sent for CUSTOMS CLEARANCE.
3. Within the same day or next day, if all is good it should show CUSTOMS CLEARANCE PROCESSING COMPLETE.
4a. Once customs finish processing it, it SHOULD be delivered to you within 5 working days by Pos Malaysia to your provided address.
4b. However, if customs clearance status is stuck for max. 3 days, you should call up the customs in Pos Malaysia KLIA to double check with your parcel providing them your USPS tracking number.

This is just a simple guide for you to understand a little better about USPS, because we all don't like waiting. But at certain times USPS may delay their parcel shipment to Malaysia because our parcels go on transits too. But a few more things that I am able to clarify that is:

i. The guide above is probably for certain type of parcels only! The features that my parcel had was International Parcels.
ii. If your parcel is stucked at PROCESSED THROUGH SORT FACILITY in USPS ISC Facility (max. 2 weeks), you may need to call up your sender to ask them to check with USPS for your parcel. It may still be stucked/delayed in their facility, like I mentioned that USPS may delay it due to transits.
iii. Last but not least, the phone number to check your parcel or "boom" Pos Malaysia is 03-87773777.
iv. The location of Pos Malaysia KLIA is just right next to LCCT. Go towards LCCT and look for Pusat Mel & Kurier Pos Malaysia. You may need to go their to collect your parcel if your parcel is being detained by customs or for different reasons.

Hope this helps to clarify things for all users of USPS. But again, there is always risks with international parcels. So choose wisely with couriers.

update, my item just arrived, wuuhuuu! gotta salute POS Malaysia for getting it up to me so fast since it only arrived in their office at 6am this morning hahaha

hmmm, should I get worry? Been 10 days but still no new updates

I bought an item from ebay a month ago, the seller provided me with tracking number and so i waited and tracked for a whole month. Now it has not arrived yet, the tracking says that

and this is the newest update available since the 7th of march. I contacted the seller but he replied and says that it will arrive soon. Should i start an 'item not received' dispute? Can i file a claim even if the seller provided me with tracking details? The 45 days validity to open a dispute is almost over, please help!

Im buying a cam tripod-steadycam which cost bout usd700, so the charges they gonna imposed on me is 500+100(insurance)+60+66 total in USD712, convert bac to RMroughly2300 i guess, they shipping wit usps as well, jus worry my item lost or broke in pos laju malaysia, if its so, what shld i do? Cuz this item selling in Malaysia is around 2700 >.< duno worth therisk o not

Added on May 3, 2012, 4:10 pmonce u start a dispute u still need to contact the seller and try to resolve the dispute. If both parties can't reach any kind of agreement only then u can escalate further the case to PAYPAL (if ur paying using this). PAYPAL will take another 30 days to investigate the dispute. So only then u will know the outcome and if luck is on ur side ur money will be refunded. I have encounter this kind of case whereby shipment not receive at my side. Luckily after a long replies of emails with the seller, i finally got back my money with full amount.

So if u need to proceed with the dispute just go ahead.

More than 3 weeks, still haven't received item. A bit concerned. It's supposed to be Priority Mail, and I used to study in USA, when I sent stuffs back to Malaysia, never had is taken more than 1 week. I don't usually track it, because it arrives promptly. But this time I'm a bit concerned. This is getting ridiculous. Can someone explain what is going on ?

Hey,

Didn't know the customs # starting with LN can be tracked. Most of my shipments with this LN# can only see when it was sent by sender.

From my experience, if you say it is priority mail, it should be either the small flat rate priority box or flat rate envelope. Other priority (normal + medium flat rate box + large flat rate box) has the CQ, CJ, CP (i think start with C one la) customs #.

I think you should expect your stuff to arrive within 3 weeks since it is from WA and not from their centralized post office (which is located in California, Florida & New York).

Sometimes, it's not USPS is giving trouble BUT it's Pos Malaysia's postman that likes to consolidate many pcs of mails only send to the seller.

Once my parcel was like 3 weeks late - due to postman apologizing telling me already arrive early but he was busy.

I do realize it wan't from Los Angeles, but it was processed in Los Angeles, CA on 27th, which should be here within 7-10 working days according to USPS. The way Pos Malaysia handle these mails are ridiculous.

We can't really blame the postmen you know. Even the post office HQ doesn't have a sorting system like how the USPS in the US has it.

Also, I've seen postmen work at those town's main post office... they had to sort out the mail by HAND!? which is super crazy. Even pos laju are using hand to be sorted out. I'm impressed with their work actually. They start work at like maybe 6am, get their mails out, sort it and then send out, once they are done, they go back to the post office again and deliver again.

Lots of hard work with meagre pay. Poor postmen.....

infos above is very helpful to me. i just got a call from poslaju with regards to my parcel from US via usps. will update in detail my experience later once item received.

it will take more that 4 weeks. LNXXXX... is not priority mail.

okay, as promised here is my experience. sharing it while it is still fresh.

1. I purchased an eletronic item from ebay worth about RM1500 may 15th, 2012.
2. received tracking code cjxxxxxxxxxus which you can track via https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmActio...33;input.action
3. Item arrived in Malaysia May 22nd was given a reference number cxxxxx which you can track via http://www.pos.com.my/pos/appl/service/sub_e_parcel.asp
4. may 23rd, went to Poslaju courier centre at lcct (it's not the one near maybank!). no rush, it's not as busy as you think. pretty quiet actually.
5. registered at the gate, given a visitors pass.
6. customs counter is all blue the first one you'll see on your left upon entering the building. they will ask you to go to Room 2, doorway opposite the customs counter.
7. gave them reference number cxxxxx received earlier, fill up a form. given a paper, asked to go to counter 1.
8. coounter 1 is on your right upon exiting the doorway from room 2.
9. personnel at counter 1 will ask for the paper from room 2, your visitor pass and will hand you your item.
10. take item from counter 1 and go to customs counter (blue counter again) to declare your item.
11. officer there will ask for receipt, my receipt/invoice is in the box. hand over receipt and papers from counter 1 to officer. seat at waiting area.
12. they will call your name and have a paper with tax amount (i kena 20% of the total).
13. pay tax at counter 6 and bring back to customs counter. these counters are so near to each other so there's no pain here.
14. show proof of payment and bring papers to counter 1 to get your visitor's pass.
15. come back to customs counter and they will check you out. don't forget your parcel.
16. upon exiting the buliding an officer sitting at a desk will as for your papers again and stamped it.
17. return visitor's pass at gate and you're home free.

p/s - the first time PosMY called me, I was asleep, it's a pain to reach them via phone (87773680 and 87773777). check your voice mail for reference number. that's all u need.

surprise you didn't encounter the runner there. my friend had to pay RM20-50 for this trouble.

only happens if your item is stuck with custom. they do send in yellow notice for you to claim your parcel.

no runner. maybe becos early in the morning. yes, i got the yellow slip in mailbox after i return home.
