Hi! I found this thread and was wondering if anyone can help me out. My aunt from the US just sent me a parcel and it's been stuck in Malaysia customs for 2 weeks now. Any ideas if this is normal? Should I call PosLaju customs? > _ <

I think it being held by custom.

Your aunty send the parcel to which address?
If the item being held with custom, they will send notice to you.
And yes, you can ask poslaju to represent to you to collect the item and you need to pay any tax occur during collection with poslaju.

It's sent to my address. I just called Pos Malaysia and it is stuck in customs. I think it's because I ordered a motorbike helmet. So I have to pay taxes to let it through. Which is no problem for me. The person on the line was very helpful and friendly and answered my questions. I appreciate your help as well! Thanks! Now I have to contact my Aunt to ask on her side about what's happening on the parcel.

Also, didn't receive a letter from USPS or Pos Malaysia. I was asked that question too when I was on the phone with them. xD
My solution now is to actually contact USPS to send an "approval" letter to Pos Malaysia to help proceed with delivery from customs.
Pos Malaysia service so far so good. Hopefully I can get my parcel. Are Taxes expensive for a Bike Helmet?

Hey guys! After calling Pos Malaysia, they've confirmed my parcel is at KLIA customs. I just wanted to ask, I didn't get the notification slip from Pos Malaysia customs So..... Is it okay if I still head to KLIA customs to pick up my parcel without it?

Because I asked the Pos Malaysia service person and they said I have to call customs to see if I can actually pick it up. Been trying to get a call to them. Line is always busy : /

Try call poslaju, ask them to represent you and collect the item. Then, once the poslaju deliver you item, pay the tax and collect the item. This is what I understand.

Asked that question to Pos Malaysia too and they said in order for them to help. They need an approval slip from the USPS service to let Pos Laju take it from customs and then deliver like normal. I don't want to go though that hassle. I'll put it as my last resort. Because I just prefer to head to customs and just claim my parcel. Has anybody head to Malaysia customs without the notice slip before to pick up their parcel?

Hi everyone. If anybody has been following my thread on the helmet issue. I'm here to share my experience on what happened. I ordered a motorcycle helmet from the US.

I never got the letter from customs because they didn't mail it to me until earlier in January 2015. During that process, I had already went to customs to ask for my helmet parcel last year.

All that aside, the people at customs were nice and let us open the parcel and that was when my dear friend & I were informed that why the helmet is stuck at customs is because you have to pay for tax AND get a MITI permit for it.

Getting the MITI permit was a long process. When you head to the centre to fill up the form. It takes 1 week process for it to be done. It was a real back and forth journey doing this. Driving all the way to customs and another end to the MITI centre to get all the paperwork done.

To sum up my story, once the permit was done. All I had to do was head back to customs again. Show them the permit and pay for 10% charge of tax which was a total of Rm75 for me. (Depending on your helmet, prices may differ) Only then you can claim your parcel from customs.

So yeah that's basically my story! There's a blogger here which I will link here who's also encountered the same experience. In case any of you guys are going through a helmet issue. Hope this posts helps you out. Do think twice if you plan on ordering helmets outside of Malaysia.
