String. you are not alone.

Mine showing cannot connect to YouTube as well !@#$%^&*

Same here. Got your SMS as well.

And I'm not gonna jailbreak just for this. The OS is already bogging down some of the operations within the iPhone itself, adding more "unapproved" complications into it will exacerbate things further.

@stringfellow/neekun,
I don't seem to be having much problems connecting to YouTube on WiFi! smile.gif Just tried it and it works. However, after reading all the posts here, I'm beginning to wonder if my connection went into 3G from WiFi - how do I check?

PS: The WiFi icon was still visible throughout the test biggrin.gif

Just tried it on WiFi on Airplane Mode.. YouTube works on my unit biggrin.gif

need some 1 with iphone 3GS to proof this...

I had a feeling that this is fake. Seen a lot of video reviews and none had actually discover any of that yet. But why would Apple not advertise on this in the first place. Also the front facing camera only works once you block the rear main camera. How dodgy! Hahaha...

OMG! I had a bad dream last night. I dreamt of my iPhone 3G dropped hard on the floor and the whole casing crack revealing the internal components..me like getting a heart attack!!!

I think I am subconsciously telling myself "Go get iPhone 3GS!" haahhaahhahaa!

Anyway, here's the link to some iPhone 3GS unboxing photos :

I think you read/watch too many of those iPhone 3G[S] tear down reviews. Looks like you're interested on the 3G[S] internals hehehehe...

------------

By the way string bro, your problem is after some sort of JB or stock clean? I don't see any problems with my youtube. It streamed slow as always but it worked on WIFI. On 3G its smooth as usual.

Reset network settings and still no help. I'm gonna try accessing YouTube with office Wifi (TMnet Direct) to prove String's theory. But can only do it tomorrow.

Turn off 3G. See if that works.

Also, is your Wifi, your office Wifi? ADSL or SDSL? The normal comnsumer-grade Streamyx or business/enterprise-quality connection? If it is the latter, Streamyx's scheduled maintainance work on the HSBB would have spared the enterprise-grade connection and everything works normally. I still can access Youtube on my Mac Mini, but that does not mean it HAS to work on the iPhone. The iPhone's Youtube client is not the same as the Mac's.

Let's diagnose this. If I can access Youtube using 3G and not on Wifi, then it has something to do with the client itself unable to connect onto the higher-bandwidth version of Youtube, but accessible on the lower-bandwidth version. That means Youtube actually works, but the path for which the Wifi-connection to the iPhone Youtube client is not working. It can be either there is a bug in that Youtube app in the iPhone itself, or something has changed within Youtube itself that is blocking the Wifi-connected clips not showing up. Notice that now you can sign into your Youtube account, and there are added specifics like comment-adding as well as adding subscriptions to your account? All these new variables could have meant that the Youtube app within the iPhone thinks that it is Youtube on a PC/Mac and thus trying to load up the higher bandwidth version, when only the medium/lower bandwidth version is made-to-play on the iPhone's Youtube app. I dont know if I'm making any sense here. tongue.gif

It is not a particularly big deal to me, I dont Youtube that much, plus I can still access it on 3G. But I do hope Apple/Youtube/whoever's responsible is looking into this and fixing it.

I......DONT......JB.

I you know String, he never JB if I'm not wrong on this.

btw... mine YouTube isn't working on WiFi (Home Streamyx) after restored.
The 1st upgrade for YouTube, it was working.
To me, I think this could be the bugs for OS 3.0...

Neekun try this.

Go to www.youtube.com on your Safari on your iPhone. Open up a youtube clip from there. It will load on Wifi and even plays. It is just that the Youtube app for some reason refuses to anything on Wifi.

Added on June 21, 2009, 4:07 pmThis confirms it.

Log into your Youtube account on your Youtube app on your iPhone. Make sure you already have a subscription to a video channel in your Youtube account. I have mine on a channel that has all the clips from "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" TV show and it works fine from there. I can access those TV shows from there.

In essence, your Youtube app is okay. It is either something is blocking the other functions inside the native youtube app(Featured videos, Most Viewed videos, Search function) from working. The rest of the features of the app works. It could be Youtube itself is exercising some sort of maintainance on access to Youtube clips via mobile devices, particularly the iPhone. I know this may not sound like much, since others can connect to their Youtube on Wifi as well, but this, coupled with the current Streamyx situation, may be the reason......or not.

Either way, it does not bother me.

Added on June 21, 2009, 4:26 pmMore weirdness.

I tried Youtube on my iPod Touch 2G 2.2.1, and it says "Cannot Connect to Youtube" as well. So, seeing this as not on the 3.0, I'd say it is safe to say that the problem is not with the Youtube app, but with the connection itself.
