IMO it is over priced but the fact is it's finally here guess the best option is to wait for a few months later for other telcos to compete just like the switch telco without switching number case.

If ur the type who changes telco because one offers a better promotion than the other then 2 year is definitely a contract U have to think v carefully about.

If U really want the iPhone then just bite it and get it. If U think it's not worth getting it then hey, get urself an iPod Touch and pretend it's an iPhone smile.gif

@d_lai_309,
You wish!

@vincent_ng86,
Depends on what the contract is with Maxis.

@hapa,
For about the same price, Y get something that's not warrantied? Maxis will warranty all phones distributed by them. For those of us who's bought phones from neighbouring countries or overseas, Maxis does not extend its service to.

@TeK_KeN,
I'm not one of those complaining about the rate plans; nor am I about to 'invest' in an iPod Touch just to be happening! tongue.gif As it is, I oredi find too many people are carrying the iPhone. If it was up to me, I wouldn't want it to be made available so soon! hAHahAHahHAhahA .. j/k

Will it have voicemail support? Cause other than that, what difference does it make from getting an SGP set and just running it on a regular Maxis plan?

You've got your point though but I don't think it's not worth it just a little too expensive and getting from other country is really not worth it for me as it'll be a hassle while you need to pay and frustrate if problem occur.

@d_lai_309,
Perhaps.. just perhaps Maxis will give U new rate plans when the hype dies down. As it is, just on LYN alone this iPhone 3G thread's been so hot the last few days [I haven't even had time to catch up on the other almost 80+ pages thread!]

Also, the UK phones are locked phone. If I ain't mistaken, the Maxis phones will be unlocked - I doubt Maxis will be distributing the phones individually without a rate plan, just like SingTel.

3 Data included in i-Value Plans applies to GPRS usage only and excludes SMS, mobile content downloads and other subscription based services. Data bundle is for local usage only. While roaming overseas, the prevailing data roaming charges will apply.

GPRS only? no 3G a?

@hapa,
Yes it is but like I said, if U really want it then bite it and get it - might as well get it now than when half the population is oredi using it, right? wink.gif

@Schattenjeager,
What'd U mean by voice mail support? I get voice mail support on my existing phone, and I didn't even purchase my phone from Maxis ! tongue.gif

@bluesky87,
Yes - the trouble and inconvenience is just not so worth it. I've been using my telco for the last 10+ years so a 2 year contract is not something I'm worried about.

@fusiontech1985,
I haven't looked through the rate plans but you're right.. Y GPRS and not 3G when the phone supports 3G functions. Also, another thing to note is that the iPhone plan is a plan on its own, unlike Maxis existing family package plans or what-nots. You can't share usage.

If your Maxis mobile service is in contract and you choose to recontract and purchase an iPhone 3G your existing Maxis contract will stand and you will have another contract running concurrently starting from the date you collect your iPhone 3G.

You will only pay the monthly subscription of your new plan, but should you have a temporary suspension of service, downgrading of price plan and termination of line pre-termination and/or liquidated damages charges for both contracts apply.

Maxis might have trade-in plans for the new generation. just like what AT&T will do.

i think its pretty solid with comitment at 100 ringgit . 300+ air time. thats more than what some people use. 500 mb data plan doesnt sound so good hence 150 sounds really really reasonable for some people.

but its a tad too slow. macrumors.com already started showing off the next installment of iPhone's. unless you really need/want one now, the other iPhone fan's out there will probably skip this one.
