Looking for a NAS but i'm not very sure of the difference between models

Could u explain the difference between
DS410j @ RM 1,599.00 ,RAID 0,1,5,6 (4 x 2TB)
DS410 @ RM 1,999.00 , 1.06GHz w # Floating Point,,64bit@DDR533 ,Memory: 512MB
DS410+ (TBA?)
*
basically the difference is the CPU and RAM

DS410j is using 800mhz, Memory Bus: 16bit@DDR800 and Memory: 128MB

DS410 is using freescale 1.06GHz with Floating Point, Memory Bus: 64bit@DDR533 and Memory: 512MB

DS410+ is using Intel Dual-core 1.67Ghz,with Floating Point, Memory Bus: 64bit@DDR800 and Memory: 1GB

in simple:
DS410+ is faster > DS410 faster > DS410j

and DS410+ and DS410 can link with DS510 to have total up to 9 x 2TB HDD , while DS410j max is 4 x 2TB HDD

user support: DS410+ is 2048 vs DS410 is 2048 vs DS410j is 1024
concurrent connections: DS410+ is 512, DS410 is 256 and DS410j is 128

so, for home use :DS410j will do ( or less than 25 person)
for small office use: DS410 is ok ( or for 25 to 50 person)
for DS410+ can support more than 100 person or for those need high speed like doing drawing/design/photo and others.

Synology can store any digital file. refer to your Q : ISO file, I assume this is video file than sharing of this file : let more than 1 unit media player to pay the same file, it support.

DS210j with 2TB , please check your PM.

4 dept with 5 computer each, this mean u have about 20 user/PC

in Synology, you can :

A) create group like account , sales or others
B) set the access right for each folder

u can try this linkdemo site 1 , user: admin, pass: admin or demo site 2 , user: admin, pass: admin

when user put a file which contain virus, that particular file will still contain virus but will not affect / kill others file like what happen in windows system. ( u still need to install antivirus in your PC)

if all your user just doing MS word / documents than you can get:

1) DS210j (RM 999, without HDD) ( budget model ,suitable for less than 25 users), support up to 2 x 2TB HDD
or
2) DS410j (RM 1699, without HDD) (budget model) support up to 4 x 2TB HDD

if your team using CAD/design firm than you should consider:
1) DS710+ ( high performance , RM 2099 ) support up to 2 x 2TB HDD
or
2) DS410 ( RM 1,999.00) , support up to 4 x 2TB

Recently got the DS110j. Attached to Linksys WRT54G. When in network, stored music works well with iTunes (PC/Mac), Xbox360 and Iphone via DS Audio.

My current problem is Download Station. Enabled eMule. Copied e2dk link. But somehow doesn't start download. Status remain 'Waiting'. Counter checked by running eMule on PC and works fine downloading the same file.

Anyone got any idea?

Thanks. I managed to sort it out. But now i have a new problem, something that i least expected and hope not to happen... power failure! and it happened. When power up, the blue lights keeps blinking for awhile..probably rebooting. Unfortunately now i can't connect to the NAS neither via Synology Assistant nor web. What should i do?

without the UPS is a very big issue if the electricity supply is not stable in you area,

normally, synology nas will take longer time than usual to boot up from power failure as it need to check the system/firmware and your HDD.

please wait for another 10 mins , if still cannot boot up, than you can remove the internal HDD and boot up the NAS without HDD. If you can find the NAS this mean NAS is ok (normally NAS don't have problem if power failure).

than u can try to put in back the HDD and try again, if still cannot, this mean your HDD having problem.

if you need to get the data from this original HDD, please PM me, we will teach you how.

this will depends on which function / technology ur prefer?

both brand have their own advantage ...

for for the past 4 years, synology had release new firmware ( min 2 times - march and Sept every year) and in fact, today they still release new firmware for year 2007 product like DS207 ( DSx07 series). this mean this will be more value for your $$$.

both Synology and QNAP support SMS system but you need to use like clickatell (http://www.clickatell.com/ ) [ the first and still the largest Online SMS Gateway
covering 819 networks in 221 countries and territories] or others like below image:

Hmm... its seems like this is quite a major setback for using NAS. Power trip & failure is common in our country. This may not be the best solution if we need to go through this process again & again every time the incident happen (without using UPS).

Bro hope you can help me decide ..
Synology ds210j or qnap ts210 ?

does the 128 and 256 ram make any big diffrence ?

i mainly wana use them for downloading preferb if able to download
from http servers ( non premium ) eg rapidshare, hotfile Megaupload etc.
and use a media server.

secondly just wana know as do both of them support something like
buffalo and seagate's web server. for easy access over the internet,
as i'm now having a dynamic IP it will keep changing, so i think it will
be easier to access it.
or mayb syno or qnap has a even better solution ?

thanks = )
