Hi, i checked with the Synology web site and notice that there was no DS209J but instead DS210J. Is both the product similar? If not can you let me know the difference. Does the 2.5inch bracket included or sold separately?

DS210j is new model ( year 2010 model) @ RM 999(800MHZ, 128MB) DS209j is RM 899 free 500GB HDD ( valid while stock last) (266Mhz, 64MB RAM) DS210j is faster /better performance than DS209j the 2.5" bracket is sold separately @ RM 45 per bracket. all item above have stock. |

QUOTE(qzplx @ Dec 2 2009, 09:59 AM) yes , you are right. DS209j will be replace by DS210j.DS209j still have limited stock ... DS210j is selling now RM 999.00 , DS210j vs DS209j 800Mhz vs 266Mhz 128MB vs 64MB our internal usage NAS had been replace from DS209j to DS210j, so far we are very happy with the performace for this model as we mainly use for backup and keep all our driver. we take about less than 20 min to finish the migration from DS209j to DS210j. 1) backup system configuration setting 2) move the 2 HDD (we use 2 x 1TB HDD,RAID-1) from DS209j to DS210j ( we need to make sure don't miss out the HDD position, if not the data will be gone) 3) power up the DS210j and install the DS210j firmware, 4) after finish the firmware installation, it will reboot. 5) log in to the admin page and change some info like: admin password, IP address, DDNS, SMTP,port (if any) 6) all the other user ID,password, access right ,folder , data still remain the same I think this had been help us to save our time ( not need to transfer data from DS209j to DS210j ~ 800GB data... which may take 8~12 hours) BTW, we had setup 2 NAS for your to test: 1) DS209+II : http://midis.serveftp.net:5000 ( user: admin, pass :admin) 2) DS210j : http://midis.serveftp.net:5003 ( this is for our internal usage, sorry cannot access, but just to show u can remote access multiple NAS in single internet IP) This post has been edited by denhock: Dec 2 2009, 11:01 AM |

ADS is refer to Windows server ( like 2003, 2008) active directory services.
Normally, only use by big company or smb |

Am trying to compare Apple Time Capsule vs NAS. Anyone here can advise? Thinking of getting the Synology 1 or 2 bay. I uses both mac and PC. Therefore should be using a 2 bay since mac HD format is different.

Therefore should be using a 2 bay since mac HD format is different. Synology nas support Apple time machine, just go to admin page ->file sharing =>WIn/Mac OS => Apple Talk => to select a particular folder.(help menu in this section =synology Time machine) Time Machine To backup data from Time Machine to Disk Station, select a shared folder from the drop-down menu. Note: Shared folders that are being used for other services will not be available for Time Machine. BTW, synology nas support MAC , win and Linux as well If u Want to Share with others ,let said 15 person, than u can use Ds110j or Ds 210j with up to 2 x 2TB HDD ( 1.5TB have better price / GB) This post has been edited by denhock: Jan 4 2010, 01:19 PM |
