The controls are perhaps a little too sensitive (for direction) and the touchscreen (for walk, jump and shoot). iMobileCinema: Flash support for Safari (jailbreak)

iMobileCinema is a powerful Safari plugin for playing internet videos on your iPhone or iPod touch. You can watch millions of videos on any podcast site or blogs with it. Install it and visit Google Video, Youtube, or any other sites via Safari.

Unfortunately iMobileCinema is currently only available for firmware 1.1. till 1.1.5 (iPod Touch). But the developers informed that the support for 2.x firmware will be coming soon.



Adobe Working on Flash For iPhone.

One of the most requested features of the iPhone has always been Flash support. I know there are quite a few things that many of you would still like to see implemented into the iPhone but, among the most requested of these is Flash. Some of you might already be up on this but, I thought I would pass it along. Adobe had their MAX event this week (Nov.16th-19th) and during this event they talked about Flash on mobile devices. Apparently, they well underway to implementing Flash on Windows Mobile devices and as well as the G1 (Google Android). So, what does this have to do with the iPhone? I think it definitely brings us a step closer to seeing Flash for the iPhone. It seems that Adobe is ready and willing but is still waiting for Apple to give them the go ahead. Below is a quote from an article by MobileCrunch:

“‘We are working on Flash on the iPhone, but it is really up to Apple.

One of Apple’s objections to Flash is that it is a CPU hog and is not optimized for the ARM11 processors that power the iPhone. In what seems to be an effort to address that concern, Adobe will also be announcing a closer collaboration with ARM to accelerate the adoption of both Flash Player 10 and Adobe AIR on ARM-powered devices.”

Emoji (unicode smilies) system-wide(Works with iPhones to iPhones Only)

19 year old software developer Steven Troughton-Smith explains how to enable Emoji icons system-wide. If you aren’t familiar with editing code, or do not dabble in iPhone development, it’s not recommended that you try this.
Smith explains: You need to edit the file /User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preferences.plist on the device -> whether you use a jailbreak to achieve this or merely some iTunes backup editor is up to you.

Add the following boolean key as ‘true’: KeyboardEmojiEverywhere

The file is in the form of binary. To make the modifications should be the first to convert xml. Use for this purpose a plist editor.

In principle the device should be Jailbroken with firmware 2.2 to access the system files.
*Please make a backup of com.apple.Preferences.plist before you proceed.

1. For mac USE plistedit pro (download: http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/plisteditpro/)
2. For windows XMLwriter (download: http://xmlwriter.net/)

After you convert the file you should add the text.

Save the changes and replace the file with the modified com.apple.Preferences.plist.

Then merely go to the Keyboards section of the Settings app, hit Japanese, and turn on Emoji. Will work for any text field/view in the OS, including on websites, AND including the titles of items on SpringBoard (e.g. if you save a bookmark to the home screen).



Here's a modded com.apple.Preferences.plist with auto correction, auto capitalization on and emoji smile below. SSH it to /User/Library/Preferences/

Emoji works only on iphones to iphones and only on Fw 2.2.

Other phones will see weird symbals.

‘2079′ Shooter Free for 48 Hours

“Tilt to move, shake to blast, shoot to kill.”

The developer’s game description pretty much sums up this quick and rapid-fire shooter. The game drops you in the center of a grid in which you must stay alive. Besides the nicely polished retro feel to the game, it succeeds in the implementation of a very iPhone-centric control system.

Ship movements are controlled by the tilt while the direction of shooting is controlled by a circular pad. Simple dial in the direction you’d like to shoot. Finally, the a screen-clearing bomb can be invoked by shaking the iPhone vigorously. Overall, a very successful control system.
